Explore the creativity of The Bird, a nonbinary and disabled author. They write original fiction in their created world of Elivera, fanfiction for Legend of Korra and Supergirl, original poetry, and often create music and art to pair with their writings. Sometimes they write essays that relate to real world events.

Elivera Projects:

Elivera, pictured below, is where most of The Bird's original stories take place. This alien world hosts two moons, slightly lighter gravity well, and a more reddish-orange sun. Humanity came to live on this planet due to aliens that humans dubbed 'Dragios.' Dragios factions both experimented on some humans, tried to fix Earth's biosphere, or forcibly 'rescued' humans from Earth's climate crisis. Elivera's atmosphere is breathable for humans, but due to high pollen content, humans often must wear respirators when outside.

A sinusodial drawing of the surface of Elivera, Bird's original worldbuild. There are five continents. One at northern pole, a large island continent to the south, a long continent to west, and two smaller continents to east joined together by a narrow isthmus.

Flora on Elivera evolved to fuel itself with the “visible light spectrum," what humans call the range between 400 nm and 750 nm. A chemical called retinal converts this light into energy; this compound plays a role in what light is reflected as well. Since indigo/violet and microwave light is less plentiful due to Elivera's star's output, these wavelengths are reflected the most. This gives the planet a violet, violet-blue, purple, indigo, or lavender coloration. Indigo/violet light is also more likely to be scattered in the atmosphere so the sky is more lavender hued.

The humans who came to live on Elivera migrated to different regions and built communities based on democratic and social justice principles. Some parts of the world have trees almost a kilometer high, other parts have deep canyons that sing when winds blow through them, and still other hidden wonders and dangers in the depths of the wilds.

Characters in Bird's stories are often nonbinary and/or queer with diverse skin tones and ethnicities. The world itself has rich lore that Bird has been inputting into the Elivera World Anvil, so friends and family can use the world in roleplay games.

Fanfiction Projects:

When not writing original fiction, Bird also writes Korrasami and Supercorp/Dansen/Rojarias fanfiction. These stories are uploaded to TheBirdWrites on AO3, but sneak peaks and discussions about how the story was drafted and research done may appear here.

When posting about the fanfiction projects, a link to AO3, where they are posted, will be at the top of each entry, then a discussion of themes and excerpts of the story will conclude the post. Sneak peaks may also appear here.

Korrasami is a ship from the Legend of Korra, where Avatar Korra and Asami Sato become romantic partners. This is a canon ship. This series has played a major role in helping Bird return to writing after several bad health scares made writing, drawing, or creating difficult, so the show holds a special place in our heart.

Supercorp, Dansen, and Rojarias are ships from the Supergirl series aired on CW. Although not a fan of much superhero shows, the characters in Supergirl proved fascinating. Dansen is the canon ship, and involves Alex Danvers and Kelly Olsen, who marry at the end of Supergirl. Supercorp is Kara Danvers (Supergirl) and Lena Luthor. Evidence of Supercorp as a romantic ship exists all through the series but never outwardly stated. After the last episode was released, a comic followup implied Supercorp as being possibly canon, but either way it was one of the big queerbaits of the 2010s. Rojarias is a ship involve Sam Arias and Andrea Rojas, and is what many call a crackship since these two never met each other in the show.

Other possible fanfictions include:

  • Computer games: Guild Wars 2 and Elder Scrolls Online or Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
  • Star Wars, which will likely include characters from other shows like Legend of Korra and/or Supergirl. The era for the stories will take place prior to or after Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi.
  • Carmen Sandiego crossovers with Supergirl or Legend of Korra

Other Projects:

  • Worldbuilding Maps drawn to capture the landscape of our stories.
  • Drawings of characters in our stories.
  • Music compositions for Elivera.
  • Political or Media Analysis Essays.
  • Original Poetry and the art created for the poem.

Basically, this comradery will feature the wild creativity of our brain. Skipping back and forth between projects is typical for The Bird, due to ADHD and the limited energy from LongCovid and our other chronic illnesses. Posts about Disability and our survival may also appear on this comradery. Whether this is consistently updated will depend on our health. The hope is to have a bi-monthly update schedule. May our health coooperate.

All free posts (as in those that are not part of a paid tier) will also be cross-posted to my website: reshapingreality.org/

Be safe, and thanks for reading!

Pacing, Spoon Theory, and the Conundrum of Ableism

Posted by TheBird on Nov 30, 2025

The day starts cold, the wind brisk, and the pain I feel simmers at the usual 5 out of 10 pain scale. It is rare for it to drop below 5, even with pain meds like Tynelol, but after awhile, the body grows accustomed to the pain, making it an annoying background noise at best. Other days it consumes m... Continue reading

(Crossposted to my website ReshapingReality.org)It may come as a surprise for some players to call Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 a Disabled narrative, and yet that is essential to the core of the story. Several of the main characters are disabled in different ways: physically disabled (Gustave and his... Continue reading
