Photoshop/Tablet problem.
Question/Problem: I recently got a new computer as well as Photoshop CS4. And when I use my Wacom tablet(Intuos 2) in CS4 every time I put my pen to the tablet the brush icon on screen lags behind the action by about a second, and when it moves it always ‘jerks’ into movement.
Operating System, Version and Service Pack: Windows Vista Home Premium with SP1
Web Browser and Version: Firefox 3.0.8
Your level of experience: Intermediate.
When did the problem start? Has it been going on constantly since then?: The problem has been there from when I installed Photoshop CS4.
Any steps you've taken to troubleshoot?:
The Wacom is an Intuos 2, I’ve updated its drivers online and am also using Photoshop 7 as well as Painter X on this computer and neither have the jerk-lag problem that CS4 has. I’m thinking it’s a conflict between the driver and CS4 but am unsure.
I’ve allotted 5GB’s of RAM for Photoshop CS4 to use. I’ve tried both less and more to see if this makes any difference and allotting it more has not fixed the issue.
The OS I’m using is 64bit, and I’m also running the 64bit version of CS4. Hardware wise, I’ve got an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU, 8GB’s of RAM and over 500GB’s free space on a 700GB hard drive.
I’m also using a NVIDIA Geforce 9500 GS graphics card which I’ve read may have problems with CS4’s GPU and OpenGL features, but I’ve made sure all the drivers for that are updated too(the driver version I have is- 7.15.11.7556) and disabling the GPU and OpenGL features in CS4 made no difference either.
… basically I don’t know what else to do. Any ideas/help would really be appreciated.
