Mississippi will sever its ties from the controversial Common Core testing consortium known as PARCC, according to a press release sent Friday by the state Board of Education. The education board voted earlier to withdraw fromthe Partnership for the Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers consortium amid anti-Common Core and anti-PARCC sentiments by some of the state’s top political leaders. Despite withdrawing from PARCC, Mississippi still has Common Core, which it calls “Mississippi’s College- and Career-Ready Standards.” Common Core really sucks. Read more hear.
Dump or Keep the Common Core?
It’s shaping up to be an interesting year for the Common Core, barely five years after 45 governors embraced it. A few states have already repealed the new math and reading standards. Others are pushing ahead with new tests, curriculum and teaching methods aligned to the Core. And in some states, its future hangs in the balance. North Carolina is one of them.It was one of the first states that quietly adopted the Common Core, and it moved quickly to put the standards in place.

Fourth Grader Tells School Board: Common Core PARCC Test Stinks!
Elizabeth Blaine, 10, stunned members of the Montclair, New Jersey, school board when she dismantled Common Core testing and supported a policy that would allow students to opt out.
The Common Core State Standards Initiative is an educational practice that lists what students should know by the end of every academic year. The intention was to standardize English, language arts and mathematics education.
Elizabeth, who is in fourth grade, was due to take the Common Core test known as PARCC (Partnership for the Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers) later this year. At the Montclair school board meeting on Monday night, a measure to allow students to opt out of PARCC was introduced.

At 100 years old, Madeline Scotto knows a thing about teaching. She’s been doing it for decades and still teaches at the school she graduated from in 1928. Scotto, who teaches math, recently sat down with Business Insider to share some of her complaints about Common Core.
“They’re making it more complicated as far as I’m concerned…four and four is eight!” Scotto said.
“It doesn’t go by the name of the method, it goes by what does well. Try and find the one that is reaching the most number of people in the easiest way,” she added. Common Core really sucks! Read more here.
Common Core Stinks: Elementary Student Opts-Out
At a New Jersey Board of Education meeting, 10-year-old Elizabeth Blaine took the mic and gave a speech in such a well-spoken way that it blew the adults in the room away.
The meeting was set to discuss allowing an opt-out option for parents who had children in a school using the PARCC. The PARCC, or Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers, is an exam that is part of the Common Core curriculum.

Jeb Bush: “Common Core Critics Can Go Suck an Egg!”
As speculation about a presidential run increases, there is more evidence that former Florida Governor Jeb Bush is in trouble on Common Core. Instead of trying to deal with the myriad logical academic, developmental, psychological, and privacy problems of the Common Core system, as stated in a recent Wall Street Journal interview reported inBen Shapiro’s Truth Revolt, he had another of what Michelle Malkin had described as a“Common Core snit fit.” Jeb whined that he has “lost [his] patience,” describing to the Journal, “an unwillingness of special interests to improve public education.”
The Wall Street Journal further reported:
“He reiterated his support for higher academic standards–whether they are the Common Core national standards or other equally rigorous benchmarks–and for testing to measure whether students are meeting them. ‘If you don’t measure, you really don’t care,’ he said.”
