i hate hs2 as much as the next guy but honestly i do kinda like dirks characterization in it if you ignore all of the icky parts. i know i complained about dirks characterization in hs2 in the past but then i had an epiphany and im a changed man now. the reason dirk is villian is because since he hates himself so much, he can't possibly see himself as anything but the villian. so, since he's taken control of the narrative completely, that's what happened. everyone hates him because that's what he thinks is everyone's opinion on him. he's trapped himself in his own hell full of self-hate, suppressing his emotions. while he thinks that he isn't affected by his narrative, he is. his view of himself as a terrible person suddenly becoming concrete reality instead of just his own perspective have caused him to perform more heartless actions, which in turn, perpetuates how much he hates himself, earning him the full title of "prince of heart." which, i guess is what would happen when you become your true god tier (whatever it was called). or something like that idk
