life
I teach early childhood special education - specifically, speech-language pathology, in which I hold a Master's degree. I have an overwhelming interest in sensory processing disorders and how sensory integration affects development. I am dedicated to providing lots of sensory integration in my therapy sessions. My latest "professional" venture is as a certified group fitness instructor, and looking into a further degree in Health & Exercise Promotion. Yeah, I know it has NOTHING to do with speech-language pathology. That's what happens when an 18-year chooses your life path.

I love visiting Panera Bread or Noodles & Co. and hanging out at Barnes and Noble on Friday evenings. I can often get some writing done in these places. It's just been a long time since I've done that. I am a mother of two, a daughter in heaven and a busy, golf and fire-truck-obsessed 3-year old boy here on earth. My life has certainly been changed and I find myself grappling for time to do anything other than juggle being a mom and working a full-time teaching position (with all the hidden extra duties). In my limited time I manage to squeeze in race training with a jogging stroller and dog, and have completed six half-marathons and one full marathon. The jury is still out on whether I tackle another full. We have three spoiled rotten fur-babies, a dog and two cats that make our house a home.
Located in the midwest, I'm a homebody most of the time - preferring short trips to visit family and friends but not staying away too long.

I used to think of myself as a huge "half-full", eternal optimist. Life changes you, though, and I find that it's hard to keep hanging on to that mindset the older I get. It's something I'm trying to reclaim after several years of faltering.

I am a Christian. I try hard to keep an open mind. Those really shouldn't be mutually exclusive. I believe that God himself has a sense of humor and probably changes His own mind, too. I should think that's well within His rights. I'm conservative in my views but believe whole-heartedly in helping others. I am not easily offended, but I AM easily embarrassed. :)

other interests
(in the event of finding time)
My first love is performance, but I generally live in the real world--most of the time--and feed this need through dabbling in local dinner theater. I am an alum of the 1996 Colts Drum and Bugle Corps. I love music, movies, reading, scrapbooking, writing, and chatting. I adore Clay Aiken and have forever been a fan of superheroes. It's often a toss-up between Superman and Batman. Harry Potter is most definitely my favorite book series. My latest obsession (rebooted! from my childhood) is Star Trek.

"...because some of us still love fairy tales, relish in the victory of good over evil...believe in heroes."
