Hi, all! I'd like to sincerely apologize for vanishing entirely. I honestly haven't even checked this community (or LJ) this year at all. And I'm really sorry about that. Thanks to those who have stepped up to post things in the meantime. :)

I think it's time for me to admit that I'm not likely to be active again in this fandom in the near future, and I'm doing very little on LJ these days in general. So I need to hand this community off to another mod, if anyone would like to take it.

Right now there are a few people with maintainer/mod privileges. If you already have mod status and would like to take over, I'm fine with that. If you want to be given mod status, leave a comment and I'll happily add you.

I could run one last prompting round if people would like that and if no one has any immediate plans to step in and do something with the comm - perhaps open a new round that'll run 'til the end of the year, then let people do whatever they want to do with the community after that? How does that sound?

Nothing will be deleted and I plan to keep my community membership, so I'll still be handy if anyone needs me!

And thank you for making this place great with all your enthusiasm. :)

With H/C Advent and fandom stockings out of the way and the start of a new year in fandom, it is time to think about our Gen exchange.

Since we decided (see previous polls) that Round 50 should be a hand-matched (by a willing bystander, I won´t do it myself) gen exchange we want to start on Monday January 15, I thought it would be wise to give you guys a reminder.

sholio, our host here at collarcorner, asked for volunteers to run Round 50, so here we are! nywcgirl and I will be your mods for the exchange.

The CollarCorner Gen Exchange will be a hand-matched blind exchange, run here on LJ. ("blind exchange" = the recipient will not know who is creating for them till their creator posts their gift; i.e. your typical exchange.)

You don't need an LJ account to participate! (Except in the poll, I guess :/ You could reply in comments?) A DW or AO3 account will do just fine; one of the mods will link to your gift here at the comm.

At this point, we will not be allowing RPF requests/gifts.

Round 50 planning - take 2!

Okay, first of all, apologies for basically going AWOL with no explanation for months!

Here's the basic deal: although there is definitely enough interest to support an exchange, sadly I can't run it. That's essentially what made me vanish - I ended up in infinite procrastination mode, but what it comes down to is, if there's going to be an exchange, someone who isn't me needs to step up and run it.

If anyone would like to volunteer to do that, please volunteer on this post, and I'll give you mod permissions on the community and leave you to it. :D You can run it however you like, according to whatever rules you prefer. The previous planning posts/polls are here and here. After the exchange is all done, I can come back and keep the prompt posts going.

If no one steps up to run an exchange, I'll just do Round 50 like a normal prompt round in November. Maybe another lightning round? Those are fun and seem to get a good response! Or maybe we could go with the general Caffrey-Burke Day idea and just have Round 50 be a prompt round devoted to Peter and Neal, since they're the heart of the show?

And again, apologies for vanishing. What I should've done was made a post like this months ago, but I was still thinking I might find the time and inclination to run an exchange. The answer to that, apparently, is nope.

If anyone would like to run an exchange, or has ideas for something special for Round 50 that would require less work on my part - I'm happy to run something if it just requires moderating a post; I just don't have time/inclination to run an exchange right now - please comment here! :)

Collarcorner Round 50 fanworks exchange planning

It's June! Let's get this party started! Or at least, let's get the party planning started.

(Which obviously needs an Elizabeth icon.)

When we discussed what to do for our 50th round, having some sort of fanworks exchange was the most popular, so that's what we'll do! I'm thinking that will take up most of the summer; after that we'll go back to regular prompting rounds.

The things that need to be determined are:
- Should we run it through AO3 or by hand-matching and posting in the community and/or our preferred choice of location? Because this fest is going to be small, I am leaning towards the latter one. An AO3 fest would be easier for me to mod, however.
- What dates? I am thinking signups should begin in a week or so; the question is how long should it run for.
- What kinds of fanworks should we allow?

My general plan for this, unless there are objections, is to have participants supply a few prompts (something like 3-6; you can choose prompts you've posted in the comm already, supply new ones, or a combination of both). We'd need some sort of plan for if your recipient couldn't deal with any of the prompts you gave them - maybe supply some general wants and do-not-wants in case none of the prompts work? But mostly I think it should be prompt-based.

I think the requirements for this one should be pretty small - 500 words for a fic, 1 finished piece of art of any size, 1 minute of vid perhaps (if we have vids). I'm honestly not expecting a lot of signups, probably less than 10, and the fact that they'd all be gen would make matching easier.

Well, as you can tell by the fact that it's now May 7, life fell on my head and I'm definitely not going to be running any sort of fanworks exchange THIS month. So the Lightning Round will stay open for another month. There are lots of great prompts and fills already - feel free to go and leave some more!

Collarcorner staying on LJ but backing up to DW

The poll leaned heavily towards keeping the community at LJ with a backup/mirror at DW. Since people could pick multiple options, there were some votes for moving entirely to DW, but no one who voted *exclusively* for that option, and no one who felt so strongly that they would refuse to participate at either platform. (I realize the voting is skewed since the vote itself is happening on LJ, but, well, those ARE the people who mainly use the comm, so ...)

Therefore, what we'll do for now is keep the main comm on LJ while backing it up regularly to DW, just in case. I'll do that once the DW import queue stops being massively backed up (probably in a few weeks when things die down).

At this point I'm not planning to run all comment rounds at both places, just because I know myself well enough to know that I would NEVER be able to remember to update it properly, plus it would spread out the prompts between two different posts and possibly get confusing and/or give people fewer options instead of more. However, I think I'll try mirroring a future round just to experiment and see how it goes -- if it actually turns out to work well and get more people playing, then we might make it a regular thing.

Anyway, the new DW comm will not be up and running for awhile yet (I'll let you know) and even when it is, things will continue to go on with few/no noticeable changes around here.

For Round 50, a number of people chimed in to support the idea of an exchange, so right now that's what I'm planning to do! It will probably be run through AO3 and will be open to everyone, not just members of the community, unless there are objections to either of those things. It'll still be gen-only, however. More information and posts to determine the exact dates will be put up later this month. :)

And don't forget the lightning round is still going on! Check out the prompts and fills, and feel free to leave new ones!
