{"id":10451,"date":"2023-05-26T14:18:08","date_gmt":"2023-05-26T21:18:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/codedcommerce.com\/?p=10451"},"modified":"2023-10-13T20:38:05","modified_gmt":"2023-10-14T03:38:05","slug":"shopify","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/codedcommerce.com\/shopify\/","title":{"rendered":"Going in on Shopify"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After careful consideration, I&#8217;ve decided to join the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.shopify.com\/partners\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.shopify.com\/partners\" target=\"_blank\">Shopify Partner Program<\/a> and start working on proprietary Shopify powered sites as well as continuing to work on open-source WordPress + WooCommerce powered sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recent statistics from BuiltWith indicate that <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/trends.builtwith.com\/shop\/country\/United-States\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/trends.builtwith.com\/shop\/country\/United-States\" target=\"_blank\">Shopify leads greatly over WooCommerce Checkout<\/a>, particularly in the United States market. Information I hear from colleagues tells me that <strong>Shopify is generating more business for them<\/strong> via support, upgrades, development, and vendor affiliate programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Open-source site ownership can be excellent, but it requires longer-term investment. Many of my clients operate in the shorter-term where Shopify strongly appeals. Plus, I believe there&#8217;s many areas where Shopify leads:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Shopify offers <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.shopify.com\/pricing\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.shopify.com\/pricing\" target=\"_blank\">plans for all business sizes<\/a> that include their software and hosting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shopify has an especially strong vendor network powering its <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/apps.shopify.com\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/apps.shopify.com\" target=\"_blank\">App marketplace<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shopify offers <a href=\"https:\/\/themes.shopify.com\/themes?price%5B%5D=free\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/themes.shopify.com\/themes?price%5B%5D=free\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">excellent free themes<\/a>. Be sure to explore their default theme <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/themes.shopify.com\/themes\/dawn\/styles\/default\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/themes.shopify.com\/themes\/dawn\/styles\/default\" target=\"_blank\">Dawn<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shopify employs a handy open-source templating engine called <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/Shopify\/liquid\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/github.com\/Shopify\/liquid\" target=\"_blank\">Liquid<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shopify has <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/shopify.dev\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/shopify.dev\" target=\"_blank\">myriad developer tools<\/a> for custom templating, upgrades, and App development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shopify embraces coder skillsets similar to my own by supporting APIs, CSS and JavaScript.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I tried for years to get into the official WooCommerce Experts program with no success. Shopify has already accepted me into their Partner Program, and I&#8217;m taking it seriously. I&#8217;m catching-on quickly with clients and a powerful development site.
