About the challenge

Code for Impact 2025 is a 3-day online hackathon for teens who want to build projects that make a real positive impact on the world.

Across the event, you’ll take part in interactive workshops, skill-building sessions, team activities, and fun community events—all mixed throughout the schedule to keep things exciting. Between activities, you’ll have dedicated time to plan, prototype, and build your project using whatever tools or tech you like.

Thanks to our sponsor, Leaf, top entrants will earn guaranteed admission to their selective online courses, including Dangers and Dilemmas in AI. Additional prizes will also be awarded to the most impressive projects.

Get started

Start by signing up on our website, and if you have Discord, joining the Discord server, where all event announcements, workshops, and community discussions will take place.

If you want to prepare beforehand, you can:

  • practise using your favourite development framework, or

  • explore a new platform, language, or tool you’re curious about.

We will also share resources on high-impact project design in the lead-up to the event.

Requirements

What to build

Build a project that aims to do good, and have a positive impact on an area that matters to you. You can read more about this in the hackathon guide, but to summarise, you should aim to help as many people as possible, and detail how your project will actually do to help.

What to Submit

You can submit any programming project, like an app, game, custom website, data analysis project, ML/AI model or something else entirely. You should also submit a short document or video with screenshots, explaining what your project is, and how it will make a difference, to help our judges. If your project is not 'experiencable', meaning the judges cannot run it and easily figure out what it does, you are recommended to include a document or video explaining this. The project must be open-sourced and hosted publicly in a Github Repository.
