President Trump just called the forthcoming Foxconn plant “the eighth wonder of the world.”

Trump to business crowd: "We're going to make you very proud" with Supreme Court pick

President Donald Trump told the Foxconn audience that as soon as he’s done speaking, he’s going to “hop in that plane, go back to Washington and we’re going to pick ourselves one great United States Supreme Court justice” to replacing retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy.

Trump called Kennedy a “great man,” saying, “I’m so honored that he decided to do this during our term, I think that showed confidence in us.”

Trump continued: “We had a fantastic choice with Justice (Neil) Gorsuch, very proud of it … and we’re going to try and do just as good so we’re going to start working on that process, we’ve already started, and hopefully we’re going to make you very proud.”

President Donald Trump had a message for Wisconsin’s Harley-Davidson, whose global headquarters is a mere 24 miles away from the Foxconn site.

“Harley-Davidson, please build those beautiful motorcycles in the United States,” he said.

Why Trump's 2020 Make America Great Again hats might be green

Trump to EU: If you don’t want our agriculture, "we don’t want your cars"

President Trump spoke about trade deals and tariffs extensively at the ground breaking of Foxconn in Wisconsin.

“We are demanding from foreign countries, friend and foe, fair and reciprocal trade,” Trump said.

Trump touted steel and aluminum tariffs, and noted the NAFTA renegotiation.

He said again that the US has lost “500 billion” each year from China.

“We’ve helped rebuild China,” Trump said. “Someday they’ll say thank you, but we don’t want to do that anymore. We want to have a fair and balanced situation.”

A trade deal with China, he said, “doesn’t have to be immediately” but “it does have to be fair.”

Speaking about trade barriers with the European Union, Trump said, “They don’t want our corn … if you don’t want our agricultural product, we don’t want your cars, it’s not such a complicated formula.”

He said the Europeans have come to negotiate: “Frankly, don’t tell them I said it, but they already have – don’t ever tell them I said it.”

Trump at Foxconn opening: "America is open for business"

Speaking at a ceremony to mark Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn’s groundbreaking in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, President Trump declared the United States to be “open for business.”

“As Foxconn has discovered, there’s no better place to build higher than here in the United States,” Trump said. “America is open for business more than it has ever been open for business.”

He added that the US was cutting regulations, though noted, “We’ll have regulation, but it’s sensible regulation.” He added, “You can get things approved quickly or disapproved. Sometimes it’s going to be disapproved.”

“We’re going to do all of the things you have to do but we’re going to speed up the process.”

These protesters are marching in Milwaukee during Trump's visit

President Trump is in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, this morning to meet with supporters before the Foxconn groundbreaking event. But he’ll also be greeted by protesters with the immigrant rights group Voces de la Frontera.

On Twitter, the group says the demonstrators are marching to “demand the abolition of ICE & the Border Patrol” as well as “to resist [President Trump and Gov. Scott Walker’s] plan to put tens of thousands of immigrant families in internment camps.”

CNN’s Ryan Young, who’s at the rally, spoke with a protester who told him that Trump “needs to pay attention to what families and the people across this nation are saying.

When asked why she’s protesting, she got emotional and said, “I would want people to fight for my family. It is that simple.”

5 key quotes from Trump's rally in North Dakota

President Donald Trump claps as he arrives for a campaign rally, Wednesday, June 27, 2018, in Fargo, North Dakota.

President Trump held a rally Wednesday night in Fargo, North Dakota, after a triumphant week.

During his speech, Trump took aim at Democratic Congresswoman Maxine Waters, praised Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy for retiring under his watch and said he’s “more exciting” than the NFL.

The rally came as Trump takes a victory lap. In addition to the announcement of Kennedy’s retirement, two candidates he had endorsed, South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster and Rep. Dan Donovan, of New York, prevailed in primaries Tuesday.

If you missed it, here are Trump’s key quotes:

  • On Democratic Congressman Joe Crowley’ loss: “A slovenly man named Joe Crowley got his ass kicked by a young woman who had a lot of energy. She had a lot of energy. I guess he didn’t see it. They couldn’t find him.”
  • On Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy’s retirement: “He felt confident in me to make the right choice and carry on his great legacy, that’s why he did it.”
  • On North Dakota Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, who’s up for re-election: “Heidi will vote ‘No’ to any pick we make to the Supreme Court — she will be told to do so.”
  • On Democratic Congresswoman Maxine Waters: “Who’s the new leader? Maxine Waters is. Maxine Waters. I think she’s taking over.”
  • On why he is more dangerous than the NFL: “When the NFL is down 20 percent – it’s the flag, but it’s also the fact that everyone is watching us on the different cable networks. They find this more exciting than the NFL but a hell of a lot more dangerous.”

Heidi Heitkamp: "I don’t answer to a political party or president, I only answer to North Dakotans"

Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp released a statement Wednesday night after President Trump criticized her at his rally in Fargo, North Dakota.

Trump said she is “a liberal Democrat” who has stood against his agenda.

Heitkamp of North Dakota said she’s willing to work with Trump if he’s helping her state.

Here’s her full statement:

Trump: Rep. Joe Crowley "got his ass kicked"

President Trump, discussing the New York Democratic Senate race, mocked Democratic Rep. Joe Crowley, saying he “got his ass kicked.”

Trump said he was “disappointed in a way” when Crowley got replaced because he would have replaced House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Trump also spoke about MS-13, in line with previous comments, saying, “The Democrats complain we’re treating them too rough. We’re getting them out, as I said, by the thousands.”

Heidi Heitkamp was President Trump's favorite Democrat. Not anymore.

Sen. Heidi Heitkamp has long been President Trump’s favorite Democrat, often showering her with kind words and twice asking her to join the Republican Party. Those niceties ended tonight here in Fargo as he assailed her for being “a liberal Democrat” who has stood against his agenda.

(He did not mention that she was one of three Democrats who broke ranks and voted to confirm Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch. He also didn’t mention that she said today the Senate should not wait until after the midterm elections to fill the latest Supreme Court vacancy.)

The President made clear that the Supreme Court retirement of Justice Anthony Kennedy is now a pivotal issue in the fall campaign.

“Justice Kennedy’s retirement makes the issue of Senate control one of the most important issues of our time,” Trump said. “We have to hold the House and maybe even increase it and I think we’ll be able to do it.”

For several minutes, the President ticked through a litany of bills Heitkamp has opposed — from the Republican tax cut plan to immigration measures.

“You need a senator who doesn’t just talk like they’re from North Dakota, but votes like they’re from North Dakota,” Trump said.

He invited her Republican rival to stage, saying: “We need Kevin Cramer to replace liberal Democrat Heidi Heitkamp.”

“She promised to be an independent vote for the people of North Dakota. Instead she went to Washington and immediately joined Chuck… and Nancy and now they have a new leader. Who’s the new leader? Maxine Waters is. Maxine Waters. I think she’s taking over. … Heidi voted no on the Obamacare repeal and by the way it was done.”
