Common questions

What can I do with Clu?

How is this different from SSH / Tailscale / Gitpod?

SSH gives you a terminal. Clu gives you a full desktop — file browser, code editor, container management, and AI supervision. Tailscale is a network layer; Clu is the application layer on top. Gitpod runs in the cloud; Clu runs on YOUR machine with your files, your Docker, your GPU.

Is my data secure?

Yes. All traffic is E2E encrypted with AES-256-GCM. Keys are generated on your device and never leave it. Each session uses X25519 ECDH for forward secrecy. Our relay only sees encrypted bytes it cannot decrypt — even if compromised.

What about latency?

Typical latency is 50–150ms. Terminal interaction feels instant. Sessions persist via tmux, so you can disconnect and reconnect without losing state. Long-running tasks (AI agents, builds) continue even when you close the browser.

What devices are supported?

The agent runs on macOS (ARM/x64) and Linux (ARM/x64). Connect from any modern browser, iPhone, iPad, or the desktop app. Your AI tools stay on your machine — you access them from everywhere.
