If you write your own, make sure you are concise and accurate. Link to your sources for people to learn more.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;i&gt;Discretely&lt;/i&gt; change your location on Twitter to Tehran or Iran, and your time zone to GMT +3:30. There are many whose entries I keep skipping. I don't like one-sided relationships and I'm sure others don't really like them, either. I've taken many communities and a couple journals off my list. If you think I've 'defriended' you in error, please let me know. I can't wait to finish them... I have the fifth one, but I'll have to go out and get 6-9 soon!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;2. &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/Kin-Good-Neighbors-Book-1/dp/0439855624" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"&gt;&lt;u&gt;The Good Neighbors: Kin (Book 1)&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/a&gt; &lt;i&gt;by&lt;/i&gt; Holly Black (&lt;i&gt;graphic novel/fantasy/young adult&lt;/i&gt;): 144 pages.&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A beautiful book. The story and the graphics were beautiful in an unsettling sort-of way. I can't wait to find out what happens in the next volume!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;3. &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/HTML-Beginners-Second-Wendy-Willard/dp/0072226447" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"&gt;&lt;u&gt;HTML: A Beginner's Guide, Second Edition&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/a&gt; &lt;i&gt;by&lt;/i&gt; Wendy Willard (&lt;i&gt;HTML/web design&lt;/i&gt;): 550 pages.&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This edition is a little outdated, but still extremely useful. It covers all the basics, of course, so that's helped in my understanding of coding. It wasn't a book I read cover-to-cover, but the parts I've read were straightforward and useful.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;4. &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/Watchmen-Alan-Moore/dp/0930289234" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"&gt;&lt;u&gt;Watchmen&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/a&gt; &lt;i&gt;by&lt;/i&gt; Alan Moore &amp; Dave Gibbons (&lt;i&gt;graphic novel/sci-fi/literature&lt;/i&gt;): 416 pages.&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Seriously one of the best books I've ever read, though it took me ages to get into. I often felt stupid or like I was missing something at the beginning of the book when Rorschach was narrating, but I powered through at the request of friends who loved this book and am glad they pushed me into it. Once I was able to get through that part and move on, I really became totally engrossed in the story. It was beautifully written with many memorable lines, some funny, some ironic, some poignant. The exerpts from fictional media and the song lyrics and quotes enhanced the storylines in subtle, but important ways. I enjoyed the fact that not all superheroes were even extremely good-looking, just as they weren't necessarily the most morally superior. The development of the characters was as valuable as the plot itself. If you haven't read this graphic novel yet, go DO IT NOW.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;5. &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/Revolutionary-Road-Richard-Yates/dp/0375708448" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"&gt;&lt;u&gt;Revolutionary Road&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/a&gt; &lt;i&gt;by&lt;/i&gt; Richard Yates (&lt;i&gt;literature&lt;/i&gt;): 480 pages.&lt;/b&gt; &lt;br /&gt;Heart-achingly wonderful. Yates writes with the simplicity of Hemingway and the grace of Fitzgerald. His prose is fast-paced and terribly, wonderfully honest. A look at what any intelligent, motivated, real, living couple feels, thinks, and does through the lens of a non-judgmental storyteller. A cautionary tale and wonderful assessment of normalcy versus the desire to be extraordinary.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;6. &lt;a href="" target="_blank"&gt;&lt;u&gt;Harry, A History&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/a&gt; &lt;i&gt;by&lt;/i&gt; Melissa Anelli (&lt;i&gt;nonfiction narrative/memoir&lt;/i&gt;): 356 pages.&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A fascinating romp through the landscape of Harry Potter fandom, Melissa Anelli lays out what it means to be a fan in the truest sense of the word. When a book or series like this touches your life and augments your desire to be fully human, do well by your own legacy, and have fun while you're at it, what is there to be ashamed of? Absolutely nothing. And those who hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. And there will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice: In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We cannot walk alone.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We cannot turn back.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, "When will you be satisfied?" We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality. We can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. We cannot be satisfied as long as the negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. We can never be satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their self-hood and robbed of their dignity by a sign stating: "For Whites Only." We cannot be satisfied as long as a Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and a Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote. No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until "justice rolls down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow jail cells. And some of you have come from areas where your quest -- quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive. Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama, go back to South Carolina, go back to Georgia, go back to Louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Let us not wallow in the valley of despair, I say to you today, my friends.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. Here was his acceptance speech:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;center&gt;&lt;img src="https://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b375/thisbeautifuldistraction/lifeissweet/PH2008110500386.jpg" loading="lazy"&gt;&lt;/center&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;i&gt;If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen, by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must be different, that their voices could be that difference.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled. Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been just a collection of individuals or a collection of red states and blue states.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We are, and always will be, the United States of America.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's the answer that led those who've been told for so long by so many to be cynical and fearful and doubtful about what we can achieve to put their hands on the arc of history and bend it once more toward the hope of a better day.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this date in this election at this defining moment change has come to America.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A little bit earlier this evening, I received an extraordinarily gracious call from Sen. McCain. Sen. McCain fought long and hard in this campaign. And he's fought even longer and harder for the country that he loves. He has endured sacrifices for America that most of us cannot begin to imagine. We are better off for the service rendered by this brave and selfless leader.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I congratulate him; I congratulate Gov. Palin for all that they've achieved. And I look forward to working with them to renew this nation's promise in the months ahead.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I want to thank my partner in this journey, a man who campaigned from his heart, and spoke for the men and women he grew up with on the streets of Scranton and rode with on the train home to Delaware, the vice president-elect of the United States, Joe Biden.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And I would not be standing here tonight without the unyielding support of my best friend for the last 16 years the rock of our family, the love of my life, the nation's next first lady Michelle Obama.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sasha and Malia I love you both more than you can imagine. It belongs to you. It belongs to you.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I was never the likeliest candidate for this office. We didn't start with much money or many endorsements. Our campaign was not hatched in the halls of Washington. It began in the backyards of Des Moines and the living rooms of Concord and the front porches of Charleston. It was built by working men and women who dug into what little savings they had to give $5 and $10 and $20 to the cause.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It grew strength from the young people who rejected the myth of their generation's apathy who left their homes and their families for jobs that offered little pay and less sleep.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It drew strength from the not-so-young people who braved the bitter cold and scorching heat to knock on doors of perfect strangers, and from the millions of Americans who volunteered and organized and proved that more than two centuries later a government of the people, by the people, and for the people has not perished from the Earth.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This is your victory.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And I know you didn't do this just to win an election. And I know you didn't do it for me.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You did it because you understand the enormity of the task that lies ahead. For even as we celebrate tonight, we know the challenges that tomorrow will bring are the greatest of our lifetime -- two wars, a planet in peril, the worst financial crisis in a century.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Even as we stand here tonight, we know there are brave Americans waking up in the deserts of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan to risk their lives for us.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There are mothers and fathers who will lie awake after the children fall asleep and wonder how they'll make the mortgage or pay their doctors' bills or save enough for their child's college education.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There's new energy to harness, new jobs to be created, new schools to build, and threats to meet, alliances to repair.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even in one term. But, America, I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I promise you, we as a people will get there.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There will be setbacks and false starts. There are many who won't agree with every decision or policy I make as president. And we know the government can't solve every problem.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face. I will listen to you, especially when we disagree. And, above all, I will ask you to join in the work of remaking this nation, the only way it's been done in America for 221 years -- block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What began 21 months ago in the depths of winter cannot end on this autumn night.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This victory alone is not the change we seek. It is only the chance for us to make that change. And that cannot happen if we go back to the way things were.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It can't happen without you, without a new spirit of service, a new spirit of sacrifice.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility, where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves but each other.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Let us remember that, if this financial crisis taught us anything, it's that we cannot have a thriving Wall Street while Main Street suffers.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In this country, we rise or fall as one nation, as one people. Let's resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Let's remember that it was a man from this state who first carried the banner of the Republican Party to the White House, a party founded on the values of self-reliance and individual liberty and national unity.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Those are values that we all share. And while the Democratic Party has won a great victory tonight, we do so with a measure of humility and determination to heal the divides that have held back our progress.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As Lincoln said to a nation far more divided than ours, we are not enemies but friends. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn, I may not have won your vote tonight, but I hear your voices. I need your help. And I will be your president, too.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And to all those watching tonight from beyond our shores, from parliaments and palaces, to those who are huddled around radios in the forgotten corners of the world, our stories are singular, but our destiny is shared, and a new dawn of American leadership is at hand.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To those -- to those who would tear the world down: We will defeat you. To those who seek peace and security: We support you. And to all those who have wondered if America's beacon still burns as bright: Tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity and unyielding hope.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That's the true genius of America: that America can change. Our union can be perfected. But one that's on my mind tonight's about a woman who cast her ballot in Atlanta. She's a lot like the millions of others who stood in line to make their voice heard in this election except for one thing: Ann Nixon Cooper is 106 years old.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;She was born just a generation past slavery; a time when there were no cars on the road or planes in the sky; when someone like her couldn't vote for two reasons -- because she was a woman and because of the color of her skin.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And tonight, I think about all that she's seen throughout her century in America -- the heartache and the hope; the struggle and the progress; the times we were told that we can't, and the people who pressed on with that American creed: Yes we can.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;At a time when women's voices were silenced and their hopes dismissed, she lived to see them stand up and speak out and reach for the ballot. Yes we can.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When there was despair in the dust bowl and depression across the land, she saw a nation conquer fear itself with a New Deal, new jobs, a new sense of common purpose. Yes we can.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When the bombs fell on our harbor and tyranny threatened the world, she was there to witness a generation rise to greatness and a democracy was saved. Yes we can.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;She was there for the buses in Montgomery, the hoses in Birmingham, a bridge in Selma, and a preacher from Atlanta who told a people that "We Shall Overcome." Yes we can.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A man touched down on the moon, a wall came down in Berlin, a world was connected by our own science and imagination.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And this year, in this election, she touched her finger to a screen, and cast her vote, because after 106 years in America, through the best of times and the darkest of hours, she knows how America can change.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Yes we can.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;America, we have come so far. We have seen so much. But there is so much more to do. So tonight, let us ask ourselves -- if our children should live to see the next century; if my daughters should be so lucky to live as long as Ann Nixon Cooper, what change will they see? What progress will we have made?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This is our chance to answer that call. This is our moment.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This is our time, to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; to reclaim the American dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth, that, out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope. And where we are met with cynicism and doubts and those who tell us that we can't, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people: Yes, we can.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Thank you. My faith in the democratic process was pretty nonexistent, at least at the national/federal level, but the results of this election may very well change that. There are two reasons for that:&lt;br /&gt; 1. LARGE VOTER TURNOUT.&lt;br /&gt; 2. I'm happy all this election stuff is over and, hopefully, we can all move on with as much grace, eloquence, and diplomacy as McCain showed in his Concession Speech last night. He did a WONDERFUL job with the speech and I was disappointed in his supporters. Their booing and negativity was completely uncalled for. McCain did a GREAT thing last night in conceding with grace and dignity and I think this may possibly be the beginning of the return of the pre-presidential-candidate McCain, whom I liked significantly better than the presidential candidate McCain.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;8. Now that election stuff is over, I think I might actually be able to focus on writing again. Once I get some actual work done, it's time to get my muse on! :)</content>

    <content type="html">In preparation for &lt;a href="http://www.nanowrimo.org" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"&gt;NaNoWriMo&lt;/a&gt; again this year, I've put together some brief character sketches of the main players in the story. I'm very excited about the themes this book is going to address and the relationships that are discovered and developed throughout the book. I hope to make it sound, in style, a bit like a modern fairy tale, but with a real-world edge. But I'll be happy if I just make it to 50k. Karen Vitale died before Bianca's fifth birthday of ovarian cancer. She grew up with her father, who doted on her, and had many friends in school. She was a bit of a 'princess', though worked hard for her good grades and recommendations for school. She currently attends Kinsington Queen's College and is studying fashion design and production. She constantly smells of vanilla. &lt;/td&gt;

Michael is a banker and works many hours, but never missed any school play, production, or important event in Bianca's life. After his wife died, he never remarried. He had a few relationships, but mostly threw himself into his work and spent his free time with his daughter.&lt;/td&gt;

Declan is a bit gruff, like Bianca's father, but gives her attention of a sexual nature, which she appreciates, until she decides that affection is much better than sex.&lt;/td&gt;

He immediately fell in love with her and decided to stay on for another few months and then return with her to the UK. Once in the UK, Brooklyn joins a football league, where he becomes friends with Jared.&lt;/td&gt;

    <content type="html">I'm making it a goal to read 50 books in the New Year. Approximately one a week. I've joined &lt;span  class="ljuser  i-ljuser  i-ljuser-type-C     "  data-ljuser="50bookchallenge" lj:user="50bookchallenge" &gt;&lt;a href="https://50bookchallenge.livejournal.com/profile/"  target="_self"  class="i-ljuser-profile" &gt;&lt;img  class="i-ljuser-userhead"  src="https://l-stat.livejournal.net/img/community.png?v=556&amp;v=923.1" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;a href="https://50bookchallenge.livejournal.com/" class="i-ljuser-username"   target="_self"   &gt;&lt;b&gt;50bookchallenge&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/span&gt; for motivation and support and have a huge list of books that I want to read &lt;a href="http://cloverdew.livejournal.com/306538.html" target="_blank"&gt;here&lt;/a&gt;. I'll also add them to a list here and add a short review.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1. &lt;u&gt;The Secret Life of Bees&lt;/u&gt; &lt;i&gt;by Sue Monk Kidd&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The first book in a long time to have me turning pages as fast as my eyes will let me and the first book in a longer time that made me cry. Coming as a recommendation from my mother, this book honestly feels like something I should be reading with her, not after her. The characters in this book come alive with the fervor of screen actresses and the drive of civil rights activists. I am more like Lily than I'd sometimes like to admit and her relationships with both her adopted family and with Zach are things I relate to and have been longing for since I was the tender age of fourteen. A beautiful, haunting novel written with the bitterness of age before happiness and the sweetness of honey, &lt;u&gt;The Secret Life of Bees&lt;/u&gt; is a touching, hilarious walk through the way language creates life.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2. &lt;u&gt;Death DuJour&lt;/u&gt; &lt;i&gt;by Kathy Reichs&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3. &lt;u&gt;The Golden Compass&lt;/u&gt; &lt;i&gt;by Philip Pullman&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It took me a long time (maybe 2/3 of the book) to really be drawn in and feel like I wanted to finish the book. Though something didn't grab me from the start, I wanted to finish the story because I thought the premise was interesting and the themes involved were important. Pullman writes verbosely, but he is a fantastic storyteller and great intellect. When I finally got to the end of this book, I couldn't wait to start the next in the series. I felt as if the book were just getting started instead of wrapping up. It's definitely worth the read, even if it takes a while to come together.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4. &lt;u&gt;The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy&lt;/u&gt; &lt;i&gt;by Douglas Adams&lt;/i&gt; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;5. &lt;u&gt;The Subtle Knife&lt;/u&gt; &lt;i&gt;by Philip Pullman&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Like &lt;u&gt;The Golden Compass&lt;/u&gt;, this book took me longer to get into than I thought it would. I didn't relate to the main character immediately, but almost immediately upon meeting Lyra again, I was drawn in even more than I was in the first book. The relationship between Will and Lyra is enchanting and mysterious, but not quite out of necessity. And, again with this book, I felt that it didn't really end, but was just beginning at the end of the book (great cliffhangers, seriously!). I'm hoping that &lt;u&gt;The Amber Spyglass&lt;/u&gt; actually provides some sort of resolution and ties up the loose ends.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;6. &lt;u&gt;Fragile Things&lt;/u&gt; &lt;i&gt;by Neil Gaiman&lt;/i&gt; (currently reading)&lt;br /&gt;- &lt;i&gt;A Study in Emerald&lt;/i&gt;: Fantastic, lovely, interesting, a little disgusting, but in that way that the twist and the end laughs in your face and says, "You should have guessed, but I am the trickster and you are too naive." The best parts of Sherlock Holmes with just a little of Lovecraft thrown in.&lt;br /&gt;- &lt;i&gt;The Fairy Reel&lt;/i&gt;: Better read aloud, methinks.&lt;br /&gt;- &lt;i&gt;October in the Chair&lt;/i&gt;: Lovely, interesting, whimsical, highly entertaining.&lt;br /&gt;- &lt;i&gt;Forbidden Brides of the Faceless Slaves in the Secret House of the Night of Dread Desire&lt;/i&gt; Though the title itself could be a book, this surprisingly short story is a fantastical mixture of the romanticism of Bronte's &lt;u&gt;Jane Eyre&lt;/u&gt;, the macabre of Poe's &lt;u&gt;The Raven&lt;/u&gt;, and the shrouded mystery of Longfellow's &lt;u&gt;House of Seven Gables&lt;/u&gt; thrown into a short story and mixed up with a bit of humour.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;7. &lt;u&gt;Inkspell&lt;/u&gt; &lt;i&gt;by Cornelia Funke&lt;/i&gt; &lt;br /&gt;Much easier to get into initially than the earlier &lt;u&gt;Inkheart&lt;/u&gt;, but dense and long as should be expected by any good German fantasy writer. Funke's characters are interesting, dark, twisted, funny, magical, and loveable. I've been on the edge of my seat since the beginning of the book and find it a great read, though 3/4 of the way through the book, I'm finding that it's starting to drag... I just want to know the ending already! (&lt;b&gt;ETA:&lt;/b&gt; The ending? Pretty great... now I REALLY can not wait for the release of Inkdeath!!!!! I know it's already out in German. I have half a mind to read them all in the original German just because I can :P)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;8. &lt;u&gt;Twilight&lt;/u&gt; &lt;i&gt;by Stephenie Meyer&lt;/i&gt; &lt;br /&gt;For the first time since &lt;u&gt;The Secret Life of Bees&lt;/u&gt;, I have found 100% enjoyment in a book. &lt;u&gt;Twilight&lt;/u&gt; is a page-turner in every sense of the word. Bella is an interesting main character, someone I can identify with, and Meyer's writing style is a breeze to read. It flows like a river and has twists and turns and shiny, polished pebbles of intrigue. I'm already a fan and I'm not half-way through the book yet. More, please! (&lt;b&gt;ETA:&lt;/b&gt; Finished and even more satisfied. I can't wait to read the second and third! It's addictive, even if it is a glorified young adult romance novel.)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;9. &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/Absolute-Batman-Hush-Jeph-Loeb/dp/1401204260" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"&gt;HUSH&lt;/a&gt; &lt;i&gt;by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;10. &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/Lost-Girls-Alan-Moore/dp/1891830740/ref=pd_sim_b_img_1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"&gt;Lost Girls: Book 1&lt;/a&gt; &lt;i&gt;by Alan Moore and Melinda Gebbie&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;While an erotic and sexually explicit graphic novel, the beginning of the Lost Girls story isn't gratuitous, it's about sharing and learning not to be ashamed of female sexuality despite the negative connotations that go along with exploratory sexual experiences throughout life, from puberty into adulthood. The artwork is interesting and provocative, but not particularly sexy. The historical and cultural backdrop surrounding the story is both appropriate and romantic. While I felt it was interesting and enjoyed reading it, when I'm finished with the other two, I may decide to sell the books. I have a feeling they are not the kind I will read again and again.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;11. &lt;u&gt;The Celestine Prophecy&lt;/u&gt; &lt;i&gt;by James Redfield&lt;/i&gt; &lt;br /&gt;This book was meant for me to read right now. It's a beautiful adventure into the physical and spiritual realms of the world we live in and I just can't put it down. It's the precise answer to a lot of the questions about life I've been craving and I really just can't wait to discover what new Truth I will find on each next page.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;12. &lt;u&gt;The Lost Painting:The Quest for a Caravaggio Masterpiece&lt;/u&gt; &lt;i&gt;by Jonathan Harr&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'm not usually one for reading a lot of non-fiction, but this book just sucked me right in. In the same way that &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/City-Falling-Angels-John-Berendt/dp/1594200580" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"&gt;City of Falling Angels&lt;/a&gt; just completely enveloped me in art, history, and enigma, &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/City-Falling-Angels-John-Berendt/dp/1594200580" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"&gt;The Lost Painting&lt;/a&gt; reminded me why I studied art, why I loved it, and why it is so important to our future in society. Harr's prose is narrative wonder. I literally couldn't put the book down. It's been a fantastic journey, somewhat like &lt;u&gt;The Da Vinci Code&lt;/u&gt; but with a true story, better writing, and much less violence. If you're an art lover or are interested in the evolution of society, go read this book.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;13. &lt;u&gt;Running Made Easy&lt;/u&gt; &lt;i&gt;by Susie Whalley &amp; Lisa Jackson&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This book is a great guide for beginning runners. Though challenging, it's also encouraging and includes everything from motivational stories to tips on the right kind of shoes, the best routine, and marathons. The plan the authors lay out is both doable and challenging. I never feel like a failure, but I don't feel like it's easy. It's especially good because the book has pictures, graphics, charts and graphs, which keep me motivated, too. It also includes a ten-week program for getting started and a six-month brief running diary for those interested in tracking progress as a motivational tool. I recommend this book to anyone who is a first-time runner or for people who were runners but haven't been active recently and want to get back to their previous lifestyle.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;14. &lt;u&gt;New Moon&lt;/u&gt; &lt;i&gt;by Stephenie Meyer&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;15. &lt;u&gt;Eclipse&lt;/u&gt; &lt;i&gt;by Stephenie Meyer&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;16. &lt;u&gt;Stardust&lt;/u&gt; &lt;i&gt;by Neil Gaiman&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Definitely one of my new favourites. While enough different from the movie to be a different story, the main themes and characters are the same. Gaiman's prose is breezy, but substantial. I never felt particularly challenged by this book, but I never felt bored, either. Tristran is a fantastic and fallible main character and Yvaine is certainly a bit snarkier than in the movie. I must say that I was disappointed the comparatively small role the pirates played in the book and wish that they could have been elaborated on because that was one of my favourite parts of the movie. There were, of course, a few things in the book I wish they could have included in the movie, but book to movie conversion aside, this is definitely a great book. I'm sure I will read this one again. And probably again after that. True to its byline, the story really is a modern faerie tale in every sense. It was everything a true faerie tale should be: dark, edgy, with bits of light that shine through, surprises and twists, elements of nature used as tools and weapons, dense with wit and romance and adventure. I'm a huge fan... for $7.00, what more could one want? I'm ready to buy the other two in the series (Valiant, Ironside). Oh, And I'm pretty sure that, unlike Stephenie Meyer, Holly Black deliberately gave her protagonist both wit &lt;i&gt;and&lt;/i&gt; strength of character that will last though time and will only become more apparent as the teenager journeys through life. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;30. &lt;u&gt;WATCHMEN&lt;/u&gt; &lt;i&gt;by Alan Moore&lt;/i&gt; (currently reading)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;31. &lt;u&gt;Such A Pretty Fat&lt;/u&gt; &lt;i&gt;by Jen Lancaster&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;32. &lt;u&gt;Tales of Beedle the Bard&lt;/u&gt; &lt;i&gt;by J.K. Ellen Page is a force to be reckoned with. Olivia Thirlby is hilarious as her best friend with a teacher fetish; Michael Cera actually didn't make me want to hurl; Allison Janney was perfection, as per usual; J.K. Simmons is possibly the only military dad I absolutely love in a movie - his devotion to his daughter proves what a fantastic dad he is and how cared for Juno is no matter how odd or out-of-place she might feel. The soundtrack is funny and poignant and the slight animation just adds to, rather than subtracts from, the overall edgy, artistic, and offbeat feel of the film. Kudos to everyone involved.&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2. January 4, 2008: &lt;a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0332047/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"&gt;Fever Pitch&lt;/a&gt; 3/5&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;img src="https://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b375/thisbeautifuldistraction/movies/feverpitch.jpg" loading="lazy" /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3. January 5, 2008: &lt;a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0408236/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"&gt;Sweeney Todd&lt;/a&gt; with Angelus 4/5&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;img src="https://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b375/thisbeautifuldistraction/movies/sweeneytodd.jpg" loading="lazy" /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;i&gt;Overall, a bit disappointing. The music was fantastic and I was more than impressed by the singing on the parts of all the actors and actresses. I was especially impressed by Johnny Depp's singing performance, who took singing lessons in order to sing Sondheim's music in the production. Helena Bonham Carter is sweet, obsessive, odd, and slightly demonic. Perhaps a stylistic choice by Tim Burton, the blood in the movie was extremely red and somewhat unrealistic due to its tomato-like hue. However, it did make the amount of blood shed stand out from the washed out neutrals of the backdrop. The story was a bit disjointed and I felt that there was no resolution of the minor plot arcs in the end. The minor characters were all just as excellent as the man in the title role, but I felt as if the movie was both too long (perhaps because of the late hour of the engagement - I saw a 10:55 showing) and as if there were significant parts of the story that were left out (I hear there were, though I've never seen the stage production). &lt;br /&gt;The movie has gotten rave reviews by everyone from &lt;i&gt;Rolling Stone&lt;/i&gt; to &lt;i&gt;Newsweek&lt;/i&gt; to &lt;i&gt;Variety&lt;/i&gt;, but I left feeling that it was anti-climactic. I'm torn because I love every single actor/actress in the movie, but felt the sum of the parts lacking. The music was beautiful, haunting, and wonderfully-sung, but I kept waiting for the big finale and it never came. Overall, I felt as if the production were rushed. The themes were wonderfully portrayed and I left feeling as if I'd learned something about how revenge is never sweet, lying usually comes back to bite you in the ass, and love is stronger than we usually realize. My disappointment isn't enough to keep me from wanting more, but it's enough to still feel a bit let down by my some of my favourite actors and one of my favourite directors.&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4. From the first scene when D.G. ends up in the O.Z., I was captivated. I'm not sure whether my growing appreciation for Zooey Deschanel or just the fabulous scenery, but I was totally committed. And, of course, when Alan Cumming spoke, I drew in a breath. His portrayal of Glitch was just heartwarming and so encouraging. I'll not give a review of the whole thing so as to avoid spoilers, but by the end of the miniseries, I was completely enchanted. I went out and bought the DVD for myself the next day.&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;21. It was a journey through some of the toughest times the District has dealt with and  both how far life has come since then and how much work there still is left to do. For anyone interested in Civil Rights, Radio, Current Events, Politics, the history and evolution of Music, or the Washington, DC area, I highly recommend this film.&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;24. The manner of speaking the main character, Brendan, pulls off is just mind-boggling. He's sharp and full of wit and doesn't take no for an answer. He kicks some ass, but isn't a bully and, though certainly not expected, JGL makes you believe a kid like Brendan actually could exist in your own community. If I were in trouble, I'd certainly want a kid like Brendan to come looking for me!&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;27. Jackie Chan is hilarious and kicks so much ass. The visual effects are beautifully done in the Chinese style and the story is like one of the best fantasy movies from the 80s. It's Karate Kid meets the Neverending Story meets Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. So, in summation, just fantastic! If you haven't seen it yet, go see it RIGHT NOW.&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;28. His talents never end. His writing is witty, his music is funny, and his acting is both confident and vulnerable at the same time. Kristen Bell is gorgeous and does not disappoint in acting the part of a tv star a bit more spoiled and high maintenance than a relaxed composer like Peter would truly fit with. Everyone from Mila Kunis, who is absolutely adorable and totally sexy, to Jonah Hill to Paul Rudd and even the total unknowns are hilarious and entertaining. It makes me want to go to Hawaii, not because I want to run away from my problems, but just because I want to find that kind of peace with myself and where I am in life. It's clear that we will be seeing much more of Jason Segal (figuratively, as literally, he bares all in 'Sarah Marshall' so there isn't anything else left for him to show on film) in the future and I can't wait. If you're a fan of How I Met Your Mother, you'll love this! If not, you'll still love it. If you don't love it, you do not have a heart. &lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;29. However, it did also reinforce my negative viewpoints on cops. I know most of them get into it for the right reasons and that they're necessary and that the truth of the matter is that most of them are &lt;b&gt;not&lt;/b&gt; crooked, but at the same time, I've not had the best experiences with them in the past and this movie definitely didn't make me like them any better. However, in my opinion, it's Keanu Reeves' best role since Neo in the Matrix, so for fans of Reeves, it's definitely a must-see. If you're a fan of House, go see it for Hugh Laurie in a different role. He excels. And Forrest Whitaker just nails it.&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;30. April 26, 2008: &lt;a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0481536/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"&gt;Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay&lt;/a&gt; with Angelus  4/5&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;img src="https://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b375/thisbeautifuldistraction/movies/haroldandkumarescape.png" loading="lazy"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;i&gt;A little raunchy at times, but completely hilarious. John Cho and Kal Penn were great as buddies, fighting and working together, getting through everything from lost girlfriends to Guantanamo Bay prison and escaping from Cuba. Neil Patrick Harris' cameo goes on a lot longer than I expected and was even funnier than I'd hoped for. This movie includes everything from Osama Bin Laden's beard to unicorns to a crash landing in President Bush's ranch. Definitely entertaining if you're into that kind of humour. And to be perfectly honest, I think it was much better than its predecessor.&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;32. Greg Kinnear is absolutely enchanting and Steve Martin was unexpected and totally hysterical. The commentary on society was poignant and funny and this movie had more heart than laughter. If you're a fan of Tina Fey, definitely go see it. If you're not, you will be after you see this movie. Amy Poehler never fails to crack me up, but this movie is just funny, not a complete side-splitter.&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;33. The humour is dry and witty, sarcastic and enjoyable, while the story itself is dramatic, engaging and certainly full of action. The special effects are very well done and the soundtrack was expertly assembled. Robert Downey, Jr. was rough, gruff, and extremely sexy in an ultimate bad boy kind of way. Terence Howard was just brilliant as Rhodes and Gwenyth Paltrow was sexy, adorable, and strong in her Pepper Potts role. Jeff Bridges NAILED his role as the villain. I warn you, however, though this is a comic book and superhero movie, it's not for kids; there's a ton of violence, lots of alcohol-drinking and womanizing on Tony Stark's agenda... and he's a weapons manufacturer, so go figure with the loads of violence. I found myself laughing, shouting "oh!", and sitting on the edge of my seat throughout the entire film, so if you haven't seen it yet, go see it now. It's a feel-good, inspirational family movie made when Hillary Duff was still young and absolutely adorable. The music is lovely, but I wouldn't say the movie is outstanding. I found myself laughing at many points during the movie when hardly anyone else in the theater was laughing, but, after discussing this with Angelus, we attribute this to knowledge of the wider film industry and familiarity with foreign cultures (including, but not limited to Indian and French Canadian). If you're a fan of Bollywood movies, you should definitely see this movie - you will laugh your butt off. If you're a fan of hockey, likewise (especially if you have some knowledge of French Canada). Mike Meyers was funny, as usual. Justin Timberlake's role in the movie was larger than I expected, but he proved himself once again as a great character actor. Jessica Alba actually didn't completely ruin a movie for once. And the cameos were some of the best parts of the whole movie. If you weren't thinking of going to see this, but enjoy Bollywood, Justin Timberlake, Mike Meyers, hockey, Verne Troyer, or just need a good laugh, go see it. I've been waiting so long for it to come out that I almost couldn't believe I was there watching it. Almost had to pinch myself.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The acting in this movie just blew me away. Firstly, it is obvious how much Maggie Gyllenhaal puts into her roles and she completely took over Katie Holmes' character. I'm almost sad that she had to die. Almost. The only thing that keeps me from being sad about that is that I know that Rachel Dawes was only created for the movies and there are far superior characters from the DC/Batman-verse that will be coming in the next movie.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The only critique I had of Christian Bale in the first movie was that his Batman-voice was a little extreme, but I think he's done a little better in this one and it's obvious he's grown as an actor and really worked on this role in particular. His scenes as playboy Bruce Wayne are amusing and his interactions with Sir Michael Caine's Alfred Pennyworth made me very happy. Caine was made for this role and uses the backstory of Alfred's time as a medic and intelligence agent to his advantage. In every movement he makes, it is obvious Alfred is a former military man and has great respect for order and justice, as well as his master and friend, Bruce Wayne. Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox was perfect. I have no critique to offer him whatsoever. His commitment to the character was obvious and his cool demeanor shined throughout the movie.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Gary Oldman did not disappoint as Commissioner Gordon. Gordon is one of my favourite characters and Oldman just nails him. He's a kind, caring man, who sees the good in people and believes that people can change. He is, however, not disillusioned that there are some people who might be beyond hope and he strives to keep his community safe from harm, and particularly his family. His faked death almost brought tears to my eyes, but his reunion with his wife was so fantastic. It was totally worth it. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Aaron Eckhart was great as Harvey Dent and even better as Two Face. Now, Two Face is a freaking fantastic character. The concept is just wonderful and Eckhart pulled it off with style. His CGI make-up for Two Face was not as grotesque as I thought it would be, but was still a bit gruesome. I was very impressed with his look as Two Face. The team did a great job engineering his look and I feel like they stayed true to the nature of the comics, so I really liked that. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And, last, but definitely not least, Heath Ledger totally stole the show for me. He really became the Joker. He was creepy, insane, but always very powerful. The Joker's sick and twisted sense of humour was present throughout the movie and I felt almost as if the story were more about the Joker than it was about Batman. I was left wondering "Who IS the Joker? How did he become this way?", which I think was part of the point. However, I'm very disappointed that there won't be more of a chance to get to find that out, at least with Heath Ledger playing him. No one will ever play him better. He far outshined Jack Nicholson and that says a lot, considering Nicholson has been known to do psycho extremely well. I'm still incredibly sad about his death, but I am glad that he was able to go out having accomplished so much in his tragically short life. His family should be proud. Personally, one of the pieces that really stood out was the storytelling the Joker did regarding his facial scars. Each time it was a different story, each as plausible as the next, and each as horrifying. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The story was well done, even if it didn't match up with a particular story from the comics/graphic novels. Everyone on this movie did well melding stories into one movie, bringing in backstory that wasn't necessarily in &lt;i&gt;Batman Begins&lt;/i&gt;. I was impressed with the continuous plot and the attention to detail in the movie and I can't wait to see it again because I know I didn't catch everything the first time. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The only criticism I had of the entire movie was that the sonar vision piece went on a little long. It was a great concept, but maybe just a little overplayed. Personally, I think that &lt;i&gt;Iron Man&lt;/i&gt; did better with the vision through his suit. The Batmobile and the Batpod were droolwrorthy. I will be sad not to see the Tumbler in the next movie because its ability to crush cars was pretty freaking rad, plus the way the Batpod shot right out of it? AWESOME!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Overall, I felt Director Christopher Nolan did a fantastic job in keeping with the tradition of the Batman from the gritty, noir-style graphic novels of Jeph Loeb, Frank Miller, and Alan Moore. The tone and the theme of the movie were in sync with The Long Halloween, Year One, and other novels which feature largely the mob influence in Gotham. Aside from psychotic or sociopathic criminals, it's good to see the influence that systematic crime has on Gotham City, as well. It makes it a little more real, a little more close to home; it helps bring the movie to life. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Whether it be the White Knight or the Dark Knight, the movie was all about duality of character and the inner struggle each person has with their own morals and boundaries. A classic theme never goes out of style.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;47. Would you trust a computerized ballot system? This movie addresses the what-ifs of the voting process in the new millennium. Robin Williams stars as late-night comic/news-anchor Tom Dobbs, who ends up running for president. He crosses paths with Laura Linney's character Eleanor, who was fired by her former employer, played by Jeff Goldblum, for finding a flaw in the voting process which gets Dobbs elected to the Oval Office. Good acting, great movie. Lots of commentary on the political process as we know it. The story was enthralling and the acting superb. Anne Hathaway and James McAvoy shine as the kind of lovers and friends which are those tragically-fated never to be together. The supporting cast was all played well and the costumes and scenery were just beautiful. The one downfall was that I was constantly aware that this was a fictionalized account of a biography, which had already been written into the main character's own novels. It was well done, but I couldn't help but think I'd watched this movie before (twice, in fact, if you count &lt;a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112130/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"&gt;Pride and Prejudice&lt;/a&gt; and &lt;a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114388/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"&gt;Sense and Sensibility&lt;/a&gt; as two separate stories). It is obvious that Jane Austen based her novels on that which she knew from personal experience, which, of course, made her stories all the more touching. Instead of seeking out a normal minimum-wage job, he ends up helping out retired actress Dame Evie Walton (Julie Walters), who ends up becoming one of his closest friends. A touching coming-of-age story with a bit of an awkwardness that makes the film read as a little more real than the typical adolescent drama. I am constantly and always pleasantly surprised at how small the world of acting is in the UK; they bring the cream of the crop to the screen and the talent is obvious when those actors take on varied and difficult roles. I am, again, impressed.&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;50.     <title>Granting Holiday Wishes, Yours &amp; Mine Alike</title>

    <content type="html">&lt;i&gt;&lt;b&gt;Step One&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;- Make a post (public, friends locked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a ______ icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.&lt;br /&gt;- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.&lt;br /&gt;- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Step Two&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;- Surf around your friends list (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:&lt;br /&gt;- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.&lt;br /&gt;You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In no particular order:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1. Taking a graphic design class in the spring [working on how to finance this with my parents' advice... so, we'll see what happens]&lt;br /&gt;2. Adobe Creative Suite for Mac&lt;br /&gt;3. Gunmetal jewelry from &lt;a href="http://mdn.mainichi-msn.co.jp/entertainment/japanofile/fashion/news/20070921p2g00m0et009000c.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"&gt;Melanie Brandon&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4. Book on anatomy for the artist&lt;br /&gt;5. Uninterrupted relaxing weekend with Angelus&lt;br /&gt;6. Some Zen things to put on my desk at work - a garden (rock with water or sand), a Bonzai tree, etc - or other things that will keep my mind focused and energy even during the work day.&lt;br /&gt;7.
