Field Work
After moving to England, I started working in porcelain extracted from English quarries in an attempt to appropriate a piece of England for myself. That intention resulted in this group of small-scale sculptures, resembling collectable china figurines. The situations they depict were collected in my mind while walking in nature in the English landscape.
I see some of these images as frozen stills from a not-yet-existent film. Others work more like reminders of actions or states of mind that I would like to keep alive after finishing my daily walk in the hills and forest. In all cases, I consider them to be fieldwork, data collected from the wild, albeit not scientifically, but in connection with mood and emotional affinities.
