KRIHS Visits CityNet Secretariat for Follow-Up Discussions on Post-MOU Collaboration
Representatives from the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements (KRIHS) visited the CityNet Secretariat on 8 May as a follow-up to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the two organizations on 31 March 2026, exploring potential areas for future collaboration. During the meeting, KRIHS introduced its key research areas and international capacity-building programs, including the KRIHS–IDB Urban Development Academy, KRIHS World Campus, and various international joint research initiatives. CityNet shared updates on several of its flagship initiatives, including the Urban SDG Knowledge Platform, the 2027 CityNet Congress in Seoul, and ongoing collaboration projects with multilateral development banks. The two organizations exchanged ideas on future cooperation, including CityNet’s participation in KRIHS capacity-building programs, joint research and workshops, and potential collaboration related to Seoul Smart Life Week and the 2027 CityNet Congress. They also discussed the possibility of jointly developing practical tools to support cities in designing and implementing sustainable urban development action plans. The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to identify concrete areas for collaboration and strengthen knowledge exchange between a leading urban policy research institute and an international city network. 2026.06.04 -

Over 590 case studies are shared in our Urban SDG Knowledge Platform.
Collaborative efforts and city-to-city cooperation can go a long way in enabling cities to develop and adopt innovative solutions to shared challenges. For this, innovation in urban policy, programming and planning is needed, as well as improved financing and enhanced capacity and knowledge.
Fortunately, many cities across the world are developing new models, innovative policies and emerging practices.
working towards local implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
