Our History

At CitroTech, we believe protection starts before ignition. Our mission is to deliver safer chemistry that empowers people, industries, and communities to act early - creating a future where fire is stopped before it starts.

Our Historical Timeline

We approach each customer with the utmost care and consideration. When creating our process, we took time to consider how stressful finding the right solution for wildfire defense can be. We created a simple four-step process that protects your home and gives peace of mind during wildfire season
2015 - 2017

Creation & Early Development

Identifies the need for new, non-toxic binding chemistry to keep fire-retardant adhered to wood and vegetation. Around that time, Steve Conboy — who would go on to found Mighty Fire Breaker — began developing what became the CitroTech® formula. After extensive testing, the core CitroTech® chemistry was established and the first patents filed. Over subsequent years, our patent family expanded extensively; today roughly 47 patents exist with more pending.
2019 - 2022

Engagement, Certification & Widely Recognized Innovation

Under the leadership and technical direction of Steve Conboy, CitroTech® entered dialogue with the U.S. EPA and pursued eco-safe fire retardant standards. That work culminated in CitroTech® earning the EPA Safer Choice certification. During this period, the vision of non-toxic, proactive wildfire defense moved from concept to recognized product.
2022

UL GREENGUARD Gold Certification

Achieves UL GREENGUARD Gold certification for CitroTech®. Validates exceptionally low chemical emissions—a major differentiator for lumber and construction materials, indoor environments and wildfire defense applications.
2023-2024

EPA Safer Choice Partner of the Year Awards

Mighty Fire Breaker becomes EPA Safer Choice Partner of the Year for the first time. Receives EPA Safer Choice Partner of the Year for the second consecutive year.
