I'm a mass of emotions right now ... SO MUCH LOVE ...
Thank you for
Aww, Rupert Grint to Jo Rowling: What you've done for Ginger people ... awww, hehe so cute. And then Jo saying he's her favorite Ginger.... And Jo saying, "Maybe i'll just write another one" ... And the tears ... JK Rowling God bless you for the Big Seven ... (LOVED that she included Tom Felton) ... 'what amazing things they did for my favorite characters'....
I think it's fair to say I'm going to be a big huge mess this time next week.
I've started to write something about all that HP has meant to me but I don't know if I can bring myself to finish it... I tried to capture it by saying that, to me, (and I think to a lot of you as well?), one of the biggest themes of her books is the power of friendship and family - and HP brought me friendship and through that friendship I've come to have a family. My fandom family, if you will. If I hadn't have started reading eleven years ago (mostly out of curiosity since everyone was going on about them) I would have never gone online to find out more - and I would have never met SO MANY of you guys.
I can think of no greater legacy for JK Rowling - not only has she inspired the imagination of millions of people (and generations to come - naysayers may disagree but I have no doubt Harry, Ron, and HErmione will find their place amongst Anne Shirley, Dorothy Gale, Sherlock Holmes, Huckleberry Finn and other famous literary classic characters in years to come) but she has introduced people to each other.
A long time ago I never thought I'd feel about another franchise & fictional characters the way I did about Han, Luke, and Leia - I grew up with that trio - and then along came Harry, Ron and Hermione... Like Lucas before her I met several friends though the trio of my youth (and I continue to do so -waves to some new SW peeps on the friends list!!!) just as I've met several friends with this trio...
And I'm stopping because I'm honestly crying like a baby right now ... I don't think I'll ever be able to write in full that entry I tried to start ... we'll see. But if not ... I love the Potter fandom. We have our wank - God KNOWS we've had wank but we also have a lot of love and passion. And friendship. <333
I guess all I can really say is:
Thank you JK Rowling.
This time next week (well a few h ours from now anyway) I'll be sitting in a theatre with some of those wonderful friends I met because of you, Ms. Rowling. Just ... I'm not even religious but Bless you. SO much.

ETA: This video cut off the very end where JK Rowling finishes with 'Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home" - if you'd like to see the whole thing it's been linked in the comments of this entry. :)
