CherryPlayer is a media player with streaming media support. It features a highly simplified interface. However, this simplicity may be a double-edge sword. On the one hand, it does not overwhelm users with lots of unnecessary options, but on the other, you may feel some needed buttons or elements are missing.
Although it supports playing media from local disks, it is evident that this program is specifically intended to play online contents as it lacks the usual media library and instead it presents lists of music available from online streaming services. Perhaps the best thing about this is that these services are absolutely free and show no annoying advertisement. Besides being able to search for the desired title, you can also have access to today’s most popular songs and videos. Unfortunately, I could not find a way to search for songs according to genre.
I loved its integration with YouTube because it really simplifies watching and downloading video from this site. You just select the desired category or enter the keywords. Then, you should browse for the desired video and decide whether you want to download it or simply play it. In the case of downloads, you will be prompted to set the desired download quality or even a media format.
In general, CherryPlayer did fine at playing disk files and streaming media as well as downloading contents. Every time you start it, the program checks for updates automatically.
