Hi! Hello! Hey there!

Hopefully, by the time you get here, this has been replaced with a much more coherent and helpful letter. In the interim, I would just like to say that my request primarily fall into two categories:

1) Space is awesome, and we have the documentaries to prove it,

2) Awesome ladies being awesome in space (Jane Foster, River Song, Romana, Zhaan)

Anything that fits that criteria, I will be super happy with! I'm extremely flexible on music choice. I think you can make pretty much any song if you lean into it.

And now, finally, belated, a letter!

Thor (Movies) Jane Foster; Jane Foster/Thor

I love Jane Foster a lot. I love that she loves science most of all. That she falls for Thor when he's trying to share his people's science. I love her friendship with Darcy and Eric. I love that she can hold an infinity stone inside of herself. I love when she saves the day by bossing people around with science. Jane/Thor is optional, but I do like them together a lot.

Fandom: Doctor Who (2005) River Song; The Doctor/River Song

Riiiiiiiver. I have so many feelings about River Song. I would love a River vid. Or a vid about all of the Ponds! Amy! Rory! <3 <3

I also love Jack and Martha and Clara, if for whatever reason you don't share my love of River. Eleven is my doctor, but Twelve has quite grown on me. I quite like the Nine-Rose-Jack run, too.

Ten is one of my least favourite fictional characters. I'm sorry. I just really, really hate him a lot.

I know a lot of this is dated, but it just has such a place in my heart. Sagan's enthusiasm is so charming. I love the spirit of adventure and exploration.

I love how quiet and understated this movie is. How lush it is and how it lets itself breathe. Also, that it has Tilda Swinton. I'm going to love whatever you do with movie, as long as it's not just a Tom Hiddleston supercut. I'm totally up for him being in the vid, but there's a lot of other great stuff in the movie, too.

Planet Earth [TV]

SCIENCE! But seriously, please just vid something that you'll love - the footage is so gorgeous. Feel free to take it any way you want to - a visual feast, a serious and epic piece of grandiosity, something off the rails and ridiculous. Flora or fauna or landscape or seasons or a mix. Water, earth, and air are all great! I'd prefer if it wasn't a timeline full of animals pulling each other apart, but I'm okay with some animal harm in this context. I do however have a special fondness for abyssal organism, deep sea monsters, and bioluminescence. Oh, and coral reefs!

(If the urge strikes you to add more general science or nature footage, I am A+ Okay with that. If it doesn't, I'm super excited to see what you do with this series.)

Hi, my most darling Festividder! Hello! For reasons that don't need exploring at this juncture, this is the first time actually writing one of these letters! I am super excited to be participating, and I hope that this letter can give you some guidance. Unless you already have ideas, in which case --

Right off the bat, I can tell you that I'm going to love whatever you do, and love you for making a vid for me.

There are no notes on music selection, because I'm good with pretty much anything. I listen to everything from country to hip hop to classical, with a lot of indie thrown in. I'm not a huge fan of death metal, but I really think you can make absolutely any song work if you vid it with intent. General vid thoughts: I love motion, character studies, humour, seriousness lurking below humour, humour spun out of seriousness, serious deconstructions, SCIENCE, magic, things that are just plain fun, things that are thinky, things that are things, awesome ladies, awesome characters in general, and awesome adventures. You also have pretty much carte blanch permission to go hay-wild on any and all BBC nature documentaries, if the urge strikes you. (As with all reasonable human beings, I <3 David Attenbourough.)

DETAILS!

Adventure Time [TV]

I feel like Adventure Time is actually an incredibly rich fandom to play in. I'm particularly fond of Marceline and Princess Bubblegum, as well as the Marceline and Simon backstory. You could do a character study, or delve into the darker world underneath the Candy Kingdom, or just go ahead a vid Finn and Jake adventuring. I'll love any of it!

Blue Planet [TV]

Please just play with this gorgeous footage and do something you're going to love. I do, however, have a special fondness for abyssal organism, deep sea monsters, and bioluminescence. Oh, and coral reefs!

The Emperor's New Groove [Movie, Safety]

This is one of my favourite movies - it is a sure cure for a grey day - and I would just love for you to do something fun with it.

The Muppets (live action) [Movie, TV, DVD, Web, Performance, Other]

Do whatever you want with whatever time frame of Muppets you want, and I will be a happy girl! (I haven't actually seen Muppet Babies, but everything else is game!)

Planet Earth [TV]

SCIENCE! But seriously, please just vid something that you'll love - the footage is so gorgeous. Feel free to take it any way you want to - a visual feast, a serious and epic piece of grandiosity, something off the rails and ridiculous. Flora or fauna or landscape or seasons or a mix. Water, earth, and air are all great! I'd prefer if it wasn't a timeline full of animals pulling each other apart, but I'm okay with animal harm in this context.

Power Play [TV]

This remains my favourite show, and I'll absolutely love anything you do with it. If you want to pick a character and do a character study, or do an ensemble or team vid, or vid about Canada and ghosts and hockey, it's all good! I will note that Colleen is my favourite, and Colleen/Brett is one of my few OTPs, in all their fucked up glory, but I really just love everything about this show.

Teen Titans Go! [TV]

I love pretty much everything this show chooses to be, and all of its characters. I'll be happy with anything! A team vid would be darling. (I am especially fond of Raven, however, and how she is Not Here For This Shit.)

Walking with Dinosaurs [TV]

Yuletide Letter!

Hiiiiiiii, Yuletide Author!

You are amazing for writing for me, and I'm sure I'll love anything you come up with. I love individual character studies as well as ensemble pieces, I love characters being smart, being raw, being complicated, being friends. I REALLY love a good dramatic reveal. (Dramatic reveals are a one of my largest narrative kinks.) I'm okay with violence and death - look at my fandom requests - but I'd rather it not be lovingly detailed and dwelt upon. I don't think anything I've requested really lends itself to graphic sex.

Dexter

Fix it, please. Fix it, fix it, fix it.

For my money, the show always had to end with Dexter dead or in jail or on the run. At the very least, it had to end with people knowing. There are a variety of things I would love, along that vein. Miami Metro piecing everything together after the finale - exonerating Doakes and figuring out exactly what happened to Maria. Deb making the other choice at the end of S7. Miami Metro figuring it out at any point.

As for characters, I will note that I love LaGuerta. I know she's not generally well-liked, but I was rooting for her like I've never rooted for anyone. I know she's not on the character list, but if you choose to use her I'd love if there was no villainization.

I actually really like Hannah as well - a character study of her would be awesome, but it really doesn't need to gloss over her flaws. If you do happen to be one of the people who liked the finale, I'd love to see a piece about her and Harrison as the years go by.

Really, though, anything you come up with has to be better than what the writers did at the end there.

I don't really have much to add here, other than that if you liked (or didn't like!) the finale, I'd also love to see Miami Metro figuring out what had been going on all along, and the fallout on a personal and professional level.

Just.

Fix it, please?

Generation X (Comic)

I would love to see team-fic! Gen or world building would be great. It could be an exciting adventure or a moment of downtime or the fallout of living the kind of lives that they do. AU or set during the comic or future fic would all be excellent.

If you do want to do something shippy, I ship Paige/Angelo and Emma Frost/Awesomeness.

I love this comic growing up, and I'd really just like to revisit the 'verse. Unless you want to make it AU or futurefic, in which case I'd just love to see some or all of these characters again. You could pick someone and do a character study! You could look at their dreams and aspirations, their families, the family they built in Snow Valley, or at how growing up as basically a soldier has impacted them.

Pushing Daisies

Olive Snook

I love Olive, and it makes me super sad how the show treated her. I would love something with Olive being awesome, and actually finding out what's been going on.

Olive. Olive. OLLLLLLLLLIVVVVVVVVE. <3 If you don't want her to find out what's going on, it would be great to just have her being awesome.

Dead Like Me

I would love future-fic! Ten, twenty, a hundred years on. Or character studies set in the present! Or random crossovers, if they strike your fancy! Basically, I've just been on a DLM kick, and I miss the show greatly.

A couple more things - I have not seen the movie. As far as I'm concerned, it's a thing that doesn't exist. I love all of the characters (even Joyce!) though Clancy is an un-favourite and I am especially taken with Roxy. I anti-ship George/Mason, though I love them as friends. Friendship fic would also be great.

Notes: This is a video I've been wanting to make for some time -- at its core, it is simply a tribute to some of the works of Georges Méliès, what has survived, and been restored. While there were challenges related to the footage itself and the nature of the short films, this was really a labour of love. Hey folks! jetpack_monkey and I are putting on a vid show for VVC this year, called Brand New Classic Hits. It's going to be composed of vids with source that comes from 1969 or earlier, and it's going to be pretty freaking sweet.

To help optimize the amount of sweetness, we could use some recommendations! There's a suggestion form here, where you can babble on about something totally awesome you (or someone else) made. If you have any interest in making a premiere -- if there's, say, a 2001 vid *whistles innocently* you've been dying to make, or you want to play with Betty Boop, or you've been looking for an excuse to vid silent films or the original Planet of the Apes or Hitchcock or old musicals, we would totally love to show off your talents.

They were both fun to make in very, very different ways (I would have had to TRY to make vids that were more different). To be honest, I didn't really expect anyone to guess the Zoolander one -- though I thought there were a couple of editing tells -- but I thought the Moon was jumping up and down and waving its arms and screaming my name, what with the rapid intercutting and mostly-instrumental electronic-ish music. I guess I was more sneaky than I thought!

Come Yuletide reveal, I was blown away, because it turns out that TWO lovely people wrote amazing stories for me.
