Updated School Uniform Policy 25-26 Política de uniforme escolar 25-26

Updated School Uniform Policy 25-26 Política de uniforme escolar 25-26

As we prepare to end the 2024-2025 School Year, we want to say thank you for your support and trust thus
far. Our priority is to always ensure that we provide a safe and welcoming environment for all students,
parents, and staff. This year we have been reflective and have heard your concerns about consistency and
clarity around the school dress code. We also shared concerns with school dress code being a possible safety
challenge because without uniformed school attire, it is sometimes difficult to identify who is a student or a
guest and middle school verses a high school student.
Over the last month, we completed a design sprint to create a plan for uniforms for the 2025-2026 School
Year. There was a survey recently extended to get feedback from all core stakeholders (students, parents,
and staff). From the results of the survey, we have settled on a plan for uniforms for the 2025-2026 School
Year.
This plan was determined with student voice and choice in mind, and the financial feasibility and accessibility
to self-purchase school uniforms from the preferred vendors and merchants. With uniform school dress, we
will now be able to easily identify students by school level to increase school safety. Additionally, we hope
that a school uniform will take the stress off students and families in getting ready for school to increase on
time arrival and focus during the instructional day.
This uniform policy with be effective on the first day of the 2025-2026 School Year. Please ensure that you
have purchased the appropriate colors and styles of uniform applicable to your child’s grade/school level.
Uniforms can be purchased from any store or vendor. If you need recommendations, please reach out to a
member of the Culture Team, your child’s respective Dean of Students or AP. Information and updates will
also be available on our school website and social media page.
We look forward to another amazing school year! Have a great Summer!
2025-2026 DCPS New Cell Phone Policy

2025-2026 DCPS New Cell Phone Policy

After engaging with our Student, Teacher, Principal and Parent Advisory Boards, along with several other stakeholders across the district, DCPS will move forward with implementing a districtwide student cell phone policy beginning in School Year 2025–2026. Please see below the message that will be shared with students and families shortly. You can review the full policy at dcps.dc.gov/cellphones.

Each school will be responsible for making certain implementation of the policy fits its unique needs, and if this will be your school's first year phone free, your principal will follow up this summer with further details to ensure your school is set up for success.
