[morgan]This page is new on my personal website: https://www.morganwebdev.org/coffee-crawl/ . Its about a coffee event you are all welcome to attend in May if you are around the city I live in 🙂 !
burgeonlabMorgan: If I was in Bellingham, I'd join, but I'm probably one of the furthest away from you from the group today 😅. Are there actually quite a lot of specialty coffee folks here on IndieWeb? ☕👋
[morgan]the coffee chat waxes and wanes a little, there was a while when everyone seemed to be making `/coffee` pages and rating particular cafes but not quite lately
EkulThis has given me an idea for a mini project. An interactive map where users can add themsleves, it will display clickable markers where we can see usernames, name (optional), and a link to website. It wouldn't be down to the exact location of course, but city.
[morgan]Im really interested in this idea! Ive been wondering about maps and different ways of updating people on the crawl about my location for example
[morgan]It poses interesting questions. Like as far as maps and interactivity goes, does it need to be familiar enough for them to really work? Like will my relatives who are elder ages who are attending understand my custom map thing? Or does it need to be similar enough to google maps or something they can relate with
burgeonlabThanks Morgan for your support as always. I'm more of a coffee home brewer, so I think my /coffee page would be about that instead of coffee shops haha. It's on my to do list but there's so much I want to do, not enough time. ;p I like your idea Ekul. Esp if it was in your super cool CLI theme
EkulSo, here is what I had in mind. A place for all IndieWeb users to add themselves to a map, since I know we're based all over the world. Not sure if there is much interest in this, but here is the link: https://ekul.me/indieweb
gRegorReminds me of isitchristmas.com on December 25. you get a flag emoji to move around and can "stamp" briefly on the page so you can make little designs.
Ekulburgeonlab thank you! I have just looked into it and I can see that Mapbox returns HK as a region rather than a country, so it was returning XX. I will fix this and update your entry! 🙏🏻
burgeonlabCN would be the most correct as that's the Country code, but most places (like in shipping address dropdowns, HK exists as a 'country' which is wrong; it's a city). What you have now is fine, thanks Ekul!
burgeonlabcapjamesg: Nice! I'm happy to know that as that was my main hobby before I escaped Instagram's downward spiral. Maybe there could be a "filter 2.0" like Tantek's "espresso 2.0"!
