Weep

They leaned against the wall of the shed, the small window out to the park between them.   "I can't be the one to tell you" what to choose, Cole had said.    She glanced around them, at the landscape maintenance equipment neatly stacked and coiled, and out that window, where the couple they'd spotted and moved to avoid had taken up residence.    Cole had called her "Repunzel"  in the Underworld, and stuck in this shed, she knew it was true: she spent far too long as the observer of other people's happiness.   Her sisters' happiness.  The sisters she now was under orders from the Source to make suffer.  The sisters whose fated battle with the Source was delayed by the twice-blessed child.   

First, the catch in her throat as she gazed out.  "They'll have to kill him."   His hands went to her shoulders, and she barely seemed to care as he pulled her into his arms.   He had never seen her let the tears flow this freely, and that was his first clue.   

"They may have to."

 Her tears were soaking into his shirt. She paused to breathe and whisper, "Marked for death before he's even born."
