Twosday: All that Glitters

Tell us about a time you backed a winner; and a time you backed a loser.

Loser:

Even months later Prue still couldn't think the name "Finley Beck" without cringing.   Smug, condescending, egotistical Finley Beck.  She knew it only hurt when he'd turned out to be all those things because she'd idolized him from afar, because what she'd seen in his work convinced her photography could be taken seriously as more than an idealistic fool's errand.  She knew that, and it felt good to show him up in the end, but still.  If everything happened for a reason, she was tempted to think the universe just wouldn't allow her to hold anything sacred.  She didn't want to accept that, except in this case.   This idol was definitely false, and really, she only regretted the time she'd spent reading his dry ghost-written memoir.

Even as a handyman hired to do repairs on the house of three single women, there was just something so fundamentally trustworthy about Leo Wyatt that Prue never even began to be on guard with him.   Well, except about magic, until they learned who he really was.  But it was obvious from the start that Piper liked him, and Prue wanted nothing more to see her younger sister happy in love. With whoever her heart wanted, but Prue'd kept her own thought that Piper had really settled on Leo to herself.  They all knew how their mother's similar path had ended.  It was a grueling journey, for all of them, and there were more than enough doubts, missteps, and cruel meddling by the supposed "good guys" to go around.  All she could do was be Piper's shoulder to cry on, her steadiest backer, and the voice of pro-active reason for Leo when even his steady faith skipped a step.  She could declare, for them, if not for herself, "Rules were meant to be broken."  And so they got to their wedding day, when they all could finally believe Piper and Leo had made it, with whatever help and support she could give.
