Tuesday disaster management
Let's say a disaster is going to hit your immediate area. Would you rather face--
a hurricane
or
an earthquake?
Bonus points: What is your preparation plan?
Emil has to say:
Hurricane, hands down. That, I know how to deal with. Earthquakes are completely different beasts.
Thanks to having grown up/spent my early adulthood in "Manila-while-under-climate-change", I already have drawn up a plan.
-Monitor the news for the yellow or red flood alert
-Move up to the second floor, ASAP
-Make sure that everyone has their survival kits: a change of clothes, bottled water, crackers and cakes, flashlight, rope, a knife or scissors, band-aids, antiseptic.
-Charge all cellphones
-If necessary (though we've never had to do this), evacuate to a high rise building. Since there's just four of us at home (2 kids, 2 adults), Marce and I take charge of 1 child each.
