Friday Halloween Season

Countdown to Hallowe'en

Directions: Make a list of ten sensations that you associate with Hallowe'en. They can incorporate sight, smell, sound, taste, touch, mood, or all six.

  1. White skulls grinning at you
  2. Brilliant colors popping off costumes
  3. High-pitched shrieks and screams
  4. Rusty creaking from old gates
  5. Voices raised in cheerful song
  6. Chocolate melting on the tongue
  7. Sweet crispness of a caramel apple
  8. Bubbling potions
  9. Crackling white lightning arcing across the sky
  10. Smooth orange flesh of a pumpkin (although I should mention that this is a new thing for me. I'd never seen a pumpkin carved for Halloween until I came here. I'd heard stories about the Irish carving turnips, but never pumpkins. Apparently they and the custom are an American thing the people of Secundus adopted from immigrants. I'm not complaining in the least -- it's fun to carve funny faces on them.)
