I think this is how my father deals with my mother. She's certainly the sort of woman who'd get offended if you mentioned her age. Father always makes sure to remember anniversaries and birthdays, and tries to avoid mentioning anything that would upset her. That doesn't always work out (I get my occasional tendency to stick my foot in my mouth from him), but I suppose they have a decent enough marriage.
