Saturday Who Says It Does?
"Everyone is born a genius, but the process of living de-geniuses them." -R. Buckminster Fuller
I think I understand what he means by this. That day-to-day routine can dull one's senses, put one in a rut in which they don't learn and grow. And yet, I feel it's slightly insulting. Maybe it's because my friends are some of the smartest people I know. And I know they've worked hard to learn as much as they can about their chosen fields. Yes, they're Touched, and that does give them a natural advantage, I admit. But I've seen Doc pouring over his scientific journals. I've seen Lewis studying plants and insects and taking meticulous notes. I've seen Richard looking at old inventions and reworking them to make them even better. They're always trying to improve. I don't like someone saying that the mere act of living means they're not as smart as they once were.
I don't know. I'm probably taking it far too personally.Maybe because I was once stuck in that rut, and now you've got me wondering if it's done anything to my creative abilities. . .
