Sleeping on the hard floor of a musty old house was not especially pleasing to her, but Clem had slept in worse places on dirtier floors with more upsetting company. She had spent the night with demons, child killers, warlocks of questionable character, but never with a man who smiled as gently as Fletch did. Her athame felt warm in her hand as she glanced at him, briefly, from her spot on the floor. She could do it right now, plunge the dagger into his heart, and kill him without a second thought. Clem sighed. No. She’d save that for later.
