Emil shrugged as he pelted a stone at the garbage can. "It's no good to pick on the innocent."
Darren had to hide his smirk at these words. Months ago, Emil would have kicked him as well for simply being nearby. Now it was much safer to be around him. "Better the jerk you know than the thug you don't," he decided quietly.
Emil glanced at Darren. "You never like being mean, do you?"
