"Nina, that book doesn't have pictures!"
The little girl grinned up at her mother. "No pictures," she said proudly before pulling the book in her lap and placing her finger where she'd left off. "It jumped up a-after a while---"
Ida watched with disbelief for a few moments before getting her phone. "Mark! Guess what?" she greeted excitedly when the call finally came through.
"What now?" Mark asked curiously.
"Nina can read."
"Nina can---what? Don't pull my leg! She's not even three years old yet!"
Ida laughed. "I wouldn't joke about something like this."
