Munday Kidlet Time

Tell us about your character as a child. What were they like as a kid? A loner? A friendly, outgoing child? Rambunctious? Well-behaved? Spoilt?

"A friendly, outgoing child" describes little Lucy pretty well. Also "rambunctious." She absolutely loved to run as a child -- she went almost everywhere at top speed. Her parents took to telling her beforehand if she was in a situation where she needed to walk -- she really did need that advance notice.

Overall, she was a sweet, creative kid. She liked to make friends with everybody -- a trait her parents mostly encouraged, though they warned her multiple times not to strike up conversations with adult strangers if they weren't around. She also developed an interest in music early, helped by her mother signing her up for piano and violin lessons. As we all know, the violin is the instrument that really captured Lucy's attention, and is the one she ultimately stuck with. One of her favorite activities as a kid was turning on the radio and dancing to whatever tunes came on. Her love of plants she inherited from her mother, who kept small herb gardens and occasionally grew tomatoes in pots. Lucy loved helping her out with her gardening, since it made her feel like a "responsible" big girl. As for her love of acting, she did try out for and get parts in a couple of elementary school plays, but at that point, it was just "a fun thing to do." She wouldn't really start getting into the acting scene until she was a teenager, and wouldn't consider it a career option until college.

It's worth mentioning she grew up in a technically-interfaith household. Neither of her parents were big into religion, but they saw the value in teaching Lucy something about her heritage. And they did celebrate some of the important holidays in each faith, more notably Christmas and Hanukkah. Lucy liked to brag to her classmates that she got to celebrate two holidays over winter break. (Even today, she gets both a little Christmas tree and sets up a menorah.)
