"What would you rather lose, your cross pendant or your ring?" 

That was an interesting question. "The pendant I guess," I said to Eddie. 

"Really? Isn't that supposed to be a symbol of faith or something?" Eddie said before he knocked back his beer. "I mean, you've had that since you were fourteen years old right?" 

"Sixteen."

"So doesn't that have more sentimental value?" 

I shrugged. "Losing the ring would upset someone. The pendant though....no, I don't really need it. What it stands for is always with me anyway." I would not be so careless with something that essential.
