Thursday discussion

Tonight, one hundred words on approaching a discussion from both sides

Ida's POV:

Sometimes group counselling is difficult if the issue involved is a gray area, when the parties involved are not right, but they are not in the wrong either. Oftentimes, each side will try to persuade me to see things from his/her/their perspective, but I simply cannot. I'm supposed to be a counselor, not a judge or an arbiter.
"Don't you ever take sides on anything?" my colleague Celine asked me once.
"Depends really. Politics, religion, society, yes. Work, I try not to," I said.
"Why not?"
"Conflict resolution," I said, though avoidance might have been the better word.
