I had to tell myself over and over again that I was just doing this for the girls. Why else would I allow myself to be in this undignified position?
As I was bent over, trying to fix that stupid machine, I could hear his footsteps. "Hey Lize, you done yet?" he snapped.
"Give me a minute," I said.
"Psh, I knew you were useless---"
I pushed the table back, got up, and slammed him against the wall. "I'm more qualified than you are, Theo. Now why don't you take that back, very slowly and one word at a time?"
