Twosday Moving On Up?
Tonight, please list two times you exchanged your current social circle for a new one, and tell us why. (Moving, new job, witness protection, etc)
Well, the first time is when we moved out of our old house into our new one. Granted, it wasn't that major a move -- we just moved from the outer edges of Burtonsville to the town square. But it was about that time that Mother started really going on about how we were better than "common folk" and how we had to start "mingling with the proper classes." I suppose having a mansion convinced her that she really was better than everyone. That was also about the time my friend Barney stopped visiting -- I always suspected Mother had something to do with that, since Barney was the son of one of the cannery workers and thus on the poor side. She probably thought he was inappropriate company for me. I do hope he's all right.
Do I really have to state what the second time was? Goodness, so many of these prompts tend to loop back around to me talking about, "And then I was kidnapped by a flying steam train and taken to the most amazing city in the world. . ."
