Twonight, please tell us TWO times you had a 'there but for the grace of' plot device arrive in the nick or (or at the worst possible!) time.

Anna's POV

The first time I found myself in this situation was when I was serving as a maid of honor to Queen Amelie in Iberte.

My sister was put in the uncomfortable position of serving as Amelie’s maid of honor while simultaneously being the mistress of her husband. That is just one situation I would not want to be in. I adored Amelie, even before she married King Rene and traveled to Iberte. I always admired her from afar. My mother told me that Amelie knows that men will be men, but still to see your husband cheating on you with one of your own ladies is despicable.

The second time also involves my sister, however indirectly.

When my father recalled me from the Ibertian court in early 1115 AW, I was devastated. I had come into my own under Queen Amelie’s guidance and I hated to leave her especially since she’d just given birth to the Prince Charles and was very vulnerable, but she held her head up and said she would miss me greatly and gave me a pearl necklace as a parting gift. But I think I’m getting off track.

I returned to the Mondian court and it seemed like everyone was looking at me. While I was use to this at the Ibertian court, these people had seen me as small child and some of them had even mocked me. But suddenly it became fashionable to dress like me and be seen with me. It wasn’t long until I caught the King’s attention.

I didn’t want it since by this time I was already involved with Lord Rainer de Villy and he had asked me to be his wife, but what the king wants he gets right? But he wouldn’t get me as he had got my sister and subsequently disposed of her. I would not go the way of my sister constantly pregnant with a monarch’s child and disgraced by the family. I promised myself that no one would have me again unless it was inside of marriage and to my surprise he agreed with that.
