Friday 13th Phobias
In honour of Friday the 13th, let's talk about something scary: phobias. Go here and choose five phobias. They may be five phobias that you yourself have, that people you know and are close to have, or just five that you think are interesting or can't imagine why anybody would be afraid of that.
List the five phobias you chose, along with an explanation of why you chose them. If you choose, you may write a drabble about an incident involving the phobia. If you do write a drabble, you may use it to count toward your summer drabble tally.
Well... I can divide my phobias into three categories:
- The standard Arachnophobia, to the point where I absolutely cannot be in a room with a spider
- Claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces), due to an incident with a small toilet cubicle, namely being trapped in one
- Taphephobia (fear of being buried alive), to accompany my claustrophobia
- Hydrophobia (fear of water), specifically drowning
- Thalassophobia (fear of the sea), because I have a fear of drowning from a tsunami
My worst nightmare would be to be in a submarine. To be in an enclosed space, buried under so much, to be underwater, specifically under the sea... !
And a drabble:
“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!” I let out an ear piercing shriek as I run from the room. Rani comes rushing to my aid, “What!? What!?” I struggle to regain my breath. “A spider!” I gasp, “The most massively massive spider you’ve ever seen in your life!” Rani goes to get the jar and stalks into the living room to catch it. As she walks past me to throw it out of the back door, I curl myself as far into the corner of my chair as I can get. We both know that if she hadn’t caught it, I wouldn’t have slept tonight.
Also posted to my 100 drabbles of summer.
