Thursday: Exerting Myself
Tonight, 100 words on exertion.
A.N.: Inspired by my parents, who like to do this in the summer.
Come on, girl! You can do it!
Lucy kept kicking her legs, trying her best to push past the growing exhaustion. Her lungs were starting to burn, and her muscles were well into aching, but she was going to do this. It’s not much farther, she thought, cheering herself on. You can do it!
Finally, she reached the spot she’d been aiming for. She flopped on her back and let herself float, sore but proud of herself. A mile across the beach. That was the farthest she’d ever swum. Good job. Now I'll just lay here until the tide comes in.
