Wednesday: HAPPY 4TH EVERYONE!!!!!!
IN honor of American Independence day, show us something that represents your independent spirit, or something you have gained independence from.
As much as Alex wants to share her view....tonight it's JACK's turn to share his voice....I know it's not the "profile" I promised I'd work on for my new friend .....but I hope this tides her over....for a bit.....
Jack grew up MOSTLY with a single parent household....it was very loving but very strict at times. His mother died from breast cancer when he was only 4, and he has vague memories of her still that he cherishes and confused emotions to this day on why god (which he believes in with all his heart) would let her die....and take her away from him...when he needed her so much....still does at times at 34 especially now that the alex situation is getting out of hand and his heart is breaking and he wants a mom. his dad was loving and strict and did the best he could as a single father...he never remarried or brought another woman into jacks life....he focused all his attention on jack and raising him and being the best dad he could be ....and he never remarried after jack became an adult....he told jack once (before he also passed on when Jack was 22 ...also from cancer...prostate cancer....) that there would never be another woman like his mother and he would love her until the day he died.
It had taken a lot of drinking and sleepless nights and an attempted suicide/hospital stay after his father died to wake him up....and realize....his parents wouldn't want this life for him.. they would want him to remember them fondly and be happy and move on....and he has....since that day....begun to straighten his life out. he went into the police academy and graduated and became a beat cop for 2 years before he realized he wanted something more....that's when he found alex...who was trying to start a Private Investigative firm on her own and she needed 1. a partner and 2. financial help....both of which he felt he could supply. (his father's life insurance/mothers which he found out father had saved for him to go to college and had gotten him through the academy but had some left over/and his steadfast strict way he saved every penny he didn't spend could do one of them) his experience at the NYPD could do the other....and his curiosity and yearning for more than just a protect and serve kind of life.....Since that day...his life has been more independent than ever, and he's truly grateful he made the leap....even if things WERE getting complicated between him and Alex.
