Tuesday: Right and Wrong
Tell us about a time you did something the RIGHT way, and a time you did something the WRONG way.
Alex...
THE RIGHT WAY
Alex looked around her newly cleaned condo with pride and exhaustion. She couldn't help but admire how good it all looked for once, and she was really glad she took the "day" off to clean it herself instead of hiring a maid like she normally did every week. It was hard work, but after she was done she felt happy, relaxed, and almost zen like. She even managed to clean out the fridge....which almost NEVER gets done....since most of her maids don't disturb that area. She cheered herself on for a moment, "Yay, no more moldy cheese smell."
THE WRONG WAY
This day was just not going like she planned, and she was about at her wits end and fed up with Jack's constant flirting, which normally, on a good day might secretly set her heart a flutter, but on a bad day....well he was only succeeding in pissing her off. Jack stopped in the office again without knocking, yet another thing that normally didn't bother her but now was setting her nerves on edge.
"Hey beautiful, I'm going out for a coffee, want me to bring you back anything?" Jack smiled with a simple offer. Alex couldn't take it any more....He was going out for COFFEE....and she had all this crap to do? Would he like her to GET anything...for HER...while SHE worked her ass off and HE took a break?? Was he KIDDING?
"Look, Jack, ENOUGH....we're just friends ok....quit pestering me with your constant flirtations. I'm BUSY...can you not see that? Leave me alone. No I don't want anything." She snapped, but as soon as she looked up and saw the hurt look in his eyes she felt worse than ever and so sorry she said anything in the first place. She was doing it...again...she was breaking his heart...she couldn't bare it.
"Oh...sorry...yeah, ok...I'll take some of that off your hands when I get back if you need me to." Jack said, straightening his tie and his back, and she could tell he was trying very unsuccessfully to hide how hurt he was.
"Thanks...I'm sorry....just a bad day...a bad, bad, bad day....I'll have something for you when you get back. Just knock first please." Alex said, apologizing and setting some boundaries. Why did she fight how she really felt? She thought back to the weeks Jack lay in the hospital bed because of her....and remembered...and a cold chilling resolve to keep it strictly business enveloped her once again.
