Thursday: Showing A Newbie The Ropes
Tonight, 100 words on instructing someone else.
A.N.: Lucy coaching a new actress -- I get the feeling she does this a lot. She's just that sort.
“Okay, now lift your head. . .take a deep breath. . .and project that voice.”
Amanda did as asked. “Like this?” she said, shouting at the top of her lungs.
“Not quite. . .volume’s about right, I’d guess, but you want it to sound like you’re talking, not yelling,” Lucy said. She took a deep breath of her own. “Sort of like this,” she added, letting her voice echo off the walls of the theater. “Take your normal speaking voice and imagine it getting amplified, like with a microphone.”
Amanda tried again. “This better?”
Lucy grinned. “Yeah – definitely. You’re on your way, girl.”
