The Once-ler was a great teacher.

It had taken him all of fifteen minutes to come to this very modest conclusion.

He smiled broadly as he sang a refrain for the tenth time, encouraging humming fish and bar-ba-loots to join in.

“Your turn!” He kept playing on the guitar, blue eyes expectantly watching the animals as they repeated the lyrics in a chorus of hums, squeals, and growls. Some nudged his side, causing him to laugh and scratch them behind their ears, effectively ending the lesson for the day.

They needed his attention as much as the Once-ler needed theirs.
