You are walking along the city/country/extra-dimensional street of the area you call home or at least are visiting at the moment and you come across..... a bucket.
The Once-ler had never seen an octopus in person before. It looked impossibly squishy, and unlike Humming Fish, very much water-dependent. He poked a finger in the water and quickly retracted it when the small creature attempted to wrap a tentacle around his finger.
"Eww."
Making a face, he wiped his finger dry on his leg. So far, he was less than impressed with the bucket-dwelling creature. He decided he probably couldn't just leave it, but he had no idea who it belonged to, either.
He glanced at his mule, Melvin, and the Thneed sign on his back, proclaiming Thneeds were only 3.98. Taking a pen from his pocket he added: "Free Octopus with order of Three Thneeds!"
Now. That was more like it.
Melvin rolled his eyes.
"Oh, c'mon, Melvin. Now all we have to do is wait for customers! Who wouldn't want a....sea creature as a pet?"
It appears to contain water. As well as a small octopus.
Someone has scrawled on the outside of the bucket, in possibly Sharpie (or just paint if you don't have Sharpies in your world), IF FOUND PLEASE RETURN TO [smudged beyond readability]
