Listens: Pinball Wizard - The Who

Sunday: Endless Hoardes

The zombies are coming, the zombies are coming! Or [generic endless supply of cannon-fodder foes], if you prefer.

Where are you? Set the scene in your post. Anywhere, anywhen, as long as you're dealing with an attack by a seemingly inexhaustible supply of enemies. How do you respond, and can you get other characters to jump on in and help fight off the attack waves?

****ON A SIDE NOTE***** This scene will actually be a continuation of another scene written from another earlier prompt given on charloft...I'll post that scene first to remind you guys how it started...Behind the cut of course so that it doesn't take up too much space...then I'll add the new scene from today's prompt after that.

The end of days is upon you! The apocalypse is nigh! You've got twenty-four hours to try and prepare for the tidal wave/zombies/alien invasion/Black Plague.

RP out how you get ready to face the end, whether that's buying supplies for your mountain hideaway or slapping a REPENT sign on yourself and standing around downtown.

Bloody Sunday

That's definitely what it had become... Alex looked over her shoulder as she reloaded her gun.  Coast clear...for now.

"Damnit Jack, where are you?" She cursed under her breath as she peered down the street looking for his car.  Escape in a V W Bug...could it get more ridiculous than that?  She couldn't believe she'd agreed to it, but what else could she do.  Alex glanced over her shoulder again and her stomach lurched.  Two zombies were making their way down the alley quicker than she would have liked.  She knew the sound of gunfire would send the other into a frenzy, so she had to be quick.

Her shot hit the lead zombie directly between the eyes, sending the other into a limping run.  She took a few breaths and aimed again, dropping the second zombie to the ground.  Just then, Jack's bug came racing around to greet her, with about a dozen zombies on his tail.

"GET IN!!!" He shouted, and she climbed inside and slammed the door.

"Couldn't be more subtle? Huh Jack?" Alex said as they sped off into the sunset.

"What can I say? Zombies like bugs."  Jack shot back with a smirk, and revved the gas.

Alex began to worry when she didn't see Gabriella in the back seat.  Jack was supposed to be in charge of keeping her safe while Alex snooped around the *supposedly* abandoned warehouse buildings on the outskirts of Nemaha. She knew full well that Gabriella could take care of herself....obviously.  After all, she had managed to make it through the portals to Alex's realm just to hire her for this case, and Alex had no doubts that she had already done her fair share of killing zombies in order to get that far.  Still...the thought that she was not with Jack upset her stomach.  As soon as they had managed to outrun the zombie hoard running behind the VW bug, she turned to Jack.

"Where's Gabriella?" Jack sighed, and Alex filled with dread.

"I knew you were going to ask that.  Well, apparently, Gabriella is as stubborn and independent as you are..." He snorted...."Women, I swear....anyways..." Alex waited as he paused, wishing he would hurry up and tell her what was going on....then she noticed he was looking out the window in front of them with a deeply furrowed brow. Suddenly, the VW bug came to a screeching halt and Alex turned to see why they had stopped.

Up ahead, about 100 yards away...a massive hoard of zombies were standing in a group blocking the road. There was at least 25 or more of them, just STANDING there in between the two fields of corn on either side.  They looked distracted, as if they were mesmerized by something that only they could see or hear.  Alex knew they couldn't drive around them...not with the piddly front wheel drive that the bug had...She turned to Jack.

"What do we do now?" She asked him.  Alex watched him frown in frustration, and grab his gun out of the holster.

"We eradicate every last one of them, then drive over the bodies...we have to get back to Gabriella. I made her a promise."  Alex thought for a moment, and wondered what promise he had made, and what exactly had happened in the two hours that she'd been gone from their side. A bit of jealousy threatened to creep up on her....no....he wouldn't do that...not to me...

Then a thought ran through her head that made her want to cry as she prepared her own gun for battle. 'Why not? You made it really clear to him last week that you were business partners only. You have no ties on him. Get over yourself.'

Mustering up all the courage she could, Alex grabbed a few spare ammo clips and opened the door. "Here we go..." She muttered under her breath as they began to walk towards the crowd of undead to take care of business.
