1. Who is your character's PB?
(only going to say the muses who use Charloft, just because well… I’m lazy)
Mag: Sarah Brightman, and Zooey Deschanel
Papa Ge`: Djomon Honsou

2. Which came first, the character or the PB?
Character by far, and in Papa Ge’s case, I had not seen Constantine before picking it, and so I didn’t even realize his original character name was Papa Moonlight, I just liked his fashion sense. I think there was one muse that his PB came almost before the character, but it was more of the idea of the muse, then the PB, then the actual character… however, in my defense, he was also created at about 2 am for the sake of it.

3. Why did you choose this particular PB?
Sarah Brightman is canon, (though I use a African American PB for her libretto!journal, as that is canon for the libretto) and Zooey Deschanel had (to me) the eyes, and the hair to be a fair comparison to SB, young!Sarah and Zooey look vaguely similar, though if I was comparing her to the 80’s hair that Sarah had, I would have gone with someone else. However, I didn’t.

Papa Ge’s was really about fashion. The book canon states that he wears a top hat and smokes a cigar, in the Broadway production; he is often portrayed in a vest and fedora. Since most PB’s don’t include a vest, I decided to go with the spirit of it and used the orange fur collar instead, especially since he also wore a fedora and smoked a cigar in most of the icons.

4. How close is the PB to your character? What are the differences, if any?
For young!mag (since she does not use movie icons) it’s really ZD’s nose that still gets to me. Sarah has this tiny little nose, and Zooey does not. I have found other PB’s with her nose (and eyes) however, they icons available were never… right for me. I like having closed-eye icons to over indicate that she is not sighted, and when this particular model has eyes like she does? Why would she close them? There are little to no icons of young!Sarah, as well, what is avaliable leaves quite a bit to desire as (from the photos I have found) come from newspaper scans and are terribly 1980's.

PG’s PB (hahaha) is his lack of a vest, however, that also comes from a canon written in the 90’s. I’m fairly certain that if he was around today, he’d go for the fur instead.

5. Have you modified the PB in any way to be more like your character?
I have one icon where the eyes are paled for young!mag, but I hardly use it. For another muse, Alanna, I have altered her eye color to violet because it is a HUGE part of who she is. Typically however? No.

6. Have you ever changed your character's PB / would you ever? Why, or why not?
When I was first looking for young!mag I did, there was one that was suggested to me that I liked at the time, but she looked even less like Sarah than Zooey. I’ve changed Libretto Mag’s PB several times, and will again. I still haven’t found ‘her’ PB yet.

7. Where did you find icons of your PB, or did you make them yourself?
Both, I’m currently in the process of making a huge batch of Sarah Brightman icons because I’m not really happy with what there is available right now. This and this are by far is my favorites of the batch.
When I go ‘shopping’ for PB’s, I have two dozen or so resources on IJ and Scibbled that I like to use.

8. Is it important to have an appropriate PB for your character? Why or why not?
Yes. I’m a very visual person, and so I’m all about having the right PB’s, it's one thing to read a description of how the character is to look, it's another to see it, regardless of if it's a celebrity, a model, or a picture drawn by hand.

9. Have you ever been favorably/unfavorably predisposed towards a character because you liked or didn't like the PB choice?
I would be lying if I said I never judged, but I try not to, it’s more about the writing, (or it should be) instead of the images.

10. Have you ever had a character who was represented by text icons / no icon only because they were too difficult to find a PB for?
Yes. Tamora Pierce muses are evil and nearly impossible to PB. *points to fish_puppy and lovesacrow* I’ve had them both for a good while, and still, nothing. D:
