Quotable Saturday: Dramatics
Drama assumes an order. If only so that it might have -- by disrupting that order -- a way of surprising.
-Vaclav Havel
They'd eaten pasta carbonara on their wedding night. She'd appreciated the chance to compose herself, but the other shoe
about to drop was always on her mind. It was something familiar, normal, even comforting, but even as she took that comfort, she knew what he -- what they -- were doing. The entire effort to conjure a suite of rooms based on some surface apartment -- he could have kept her in the cavern, and simply taken what she'd agreed to give against cold, hard stone. Everything she saw, everything she touched, tasted, was about twisting the knife. Reflexively, she set down her fork, looking away from her plate. She couldn't completely avoid his gaze, however. She did a double take when on first glance, she saw in his eyes the look that met her in the mirror two years ago, on the morning of Andy's funeral. And she began to wonder what comfort the conjure was meant give.
