Ida as a teenager here, around the age of eighteen
Going to Manila to study should have been the biggest adventure. No parents to tell me and Marce what to do. No hissing voices in the halls telling me what I could not be. No past obligations to keep my weekends tied up.

Going to Manila to study should have been the biggest adventure. No parents to tell me and Marce what to do. No hissing voices in the halls telling me what I could not be. No past obligations to keep my weekends tied up.
Yet what came in to fill that void? A flurry of writing workshops I could not remember for the life of me? The snarky approval of my brilliant classmate who’d ruined my social life while I wasn’t looking?
Was it worth it? I liked to think that the bars were holding me back, not keeping something out.
