Saturday innocence

"I know the border lines we drew between us keep the weapons down, keep the wounded safe.  I know our antebellum innocence was never meant to see the light of our armistice.  But how much would I give to have it back again? How much did we lose to live this way?"

- Vienna Teng  "Antebellum"

Darren's thoughts on this.

This reminds me of how when I realized that many borders we have in life are not natural. They are just impositions that other people (or as I thought, grown-ups) set down to keep a certain world order. What borders, you may ask? Borders between guys like me and the rest of the world. Borders between guys and girls. Borders between addresses....you get my drift.

It makes the world go round. It provides fodder for drama. But something in me is certain that life could be so much better.
