Munday Writing Buddies
1. Do you have writing buddies?
I do! I have two right now and they are pretty swell people.
2. How did you meet each other? Do you interact in person or over the internet?
Don't judge... I met them both while role playing in World of Warcraft... We've only talked over AIM or email, I've never actually met them in person.
3. What kind of support do you give one another? Beta reading? Late night chats about plot? Writing parties or word wars?
Beta reading for sure, late night chats, help with brainstorming odd things. We don't really do writing wars, we're all on different schedules and in different time zones for that to be truly effective. But I can count on them both to be both positive, encouraging AND honestly helpful. They'll tell me if something doesn't work, and I utterly respect their opinion. They're also very encouraging for my goals to be published.
4. Do they write the kind of stories or the same genre as you?
Yes, both write in similar genres. One is already a published author, so I feel like she's getting the raw end of the deal in this relationship, but I do like having her insight on what publishers like to see and what works, also how the whole system is set up.
5. Have you ever colaborated on a story?
Yes and no. The story I'm writing has evolved from an roleplaying plot and morphed into something completely original. There are characters in my story that are heavily influenced by their characters that they created, but they have also given me full permission to use the characters. I feel honored when they enjoy how I've written their characters. It makes me feel as though I'm still honoring their creation when I can write the character in a way that the creator is pleased with. So in that way, yes, we have collaborated.
