"I'm pretty sure it's alive."
The young lawyer found a long stick to cautiously push the bag out of the trash can. While he knew it was not a good idea to pick up a yowling, drooling critter that seemed intent on snapping at anything that went near it, he figured there were more disadvantages to leaving it in the trash can where just anyone could find it.
He poked the bag, which snarled at him. Emil took a step backwards, paused to consider his options, and went to untie the bag.
