Quotable Saturday: Where Are We Going?
You have come into a hard world. I know of only one easy place in it, and that is the grave. ~Henry Ward Beecher
Aleera's POV:
Aleera slackened into the chair after hearing the quote. For a moment she stared at the spot where the sound had melted into thin air. Then she looked up. "Beecher had it the wrong way around - Death is easy, you don’t have to do anything. It`s life that you have to face.” Her brows curled, and her eyes shifted around the room "And sometimes Death is the only way to live. Death can set us free beyond the realms of anything that's possible in this world. In the other world the shackles of society are gone. On Earth you have a job, and a mortgage, and kids, and neighbours to look over your shoulder... what does being free mean anyway?"
Her fingers tapped on the wooden armchair "Death can be hard, too. Nasha killed herself, because she couldn`t live with being a vampire. She was weak and this was her easy way out. Some of us, no I don't have that privilege. I'd much rather get drunk on this bitter - sweet nectar, called life. But if I don`t have the opportunity, aren`t I better off dead? And no, if your mission in life is to die then neither the grave nor death are easy and peaceful."
...She went off at tangents.
