Saturday What About Resurrection?
You have come into a hard world. I know of only one easy place in it, and that is the grave. ~Henry Ward Beecher
I have to wonder if the ability to reanimate people renders Mr. Beecher's point moot. The grave isn't such an easy place if you can be dug up and brought back from it. Though that doesn't always work, and you're not guaranteed to get someone who remembers anything of their previous life. . .
Anyway, I would say he has a point. One tends to have to fight for what they want out of life. Father will happily regale anyone of his own struggle to the top in the fish business. Yes, we were middle class before he revolutionized the family business, but that doesn't mean starting up a cannery was easy. There's also my own struggle to find someplace I belong -- and then to stay there, despite opposition. But he's neglecting to mention that the fight oftentimes brings great rewards. My father is now a very rich man, and he truly enjoys running Van Dort Fish. And me -- I've found real friends and a city that feels like home. Now all I have to do is convince my parents of that. . .
